After a week of driving its back just a tad below min, but when its run at operating temps and checked under pressure, its above the min.

I installed the upgraded Rauch Spiegel unit but lost more coolant than I anticipated due to some difficulties with extracting the crumbling ends of the OEM connector.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Quick question for those of you that have replaced/upgraded the notorious fragile 99610622652 coolant hose connector. I installed the upgraded Rauch Spiegel unit but lost more coolant than I anticipated due to some difficulties with extracting the crumbling ends of the OEM connector. Coolant reservoir went from just below max to just below min. Do I just top it off or do I need to do a proper bleed? Thanks for any advice.
Top off the coolant tank with correct 50/50 mix of distilled water and Porsche antifreeze. Lift up the bail (the wire thing) on the coolant tank (lift the bail so it stays up) and drive through several heating/cooling cycles. All will be well.
Do what DBJoe996 says or do yourself a favor and buy this vacuum filling tool

and an air compressor. This way, you can fill the coolant tank without having any air trapped and it is once and done. I found that even my indi tech doesn't always get the fill right, but I can with this setup. And once you have an air compressor, you can do a lot more with that!
When I replaced the coolant tank and the plastic coolant connector, I didn't bother purging. Coolant was 2 year old and manybe 2000 miles. I topped up coolant bottle, let it run a heat cycle in garage with the bail lifted. Drove it like that for a few different drives. Topped it up hardly and done.
Thanks guys, I also spoke with a mechanic friend who works on quite a few 996s and he concurred that a full bleed isn't necessary. Will fill and drive for a few cycles. I have the bleed tool but pressed for time and need the car for an event in a couple days, so was hoping to avoid figuring out the bleed process now. Small victory. Appreciate the advice!
Mine is doing that now, at min. I filled up with distilled water, went back to Max. After a week of driving its back just a tad below min, but when its run at operating temps and checked under pressure, its above the min. I have been checking it so often to see if goes way below the min and it hasn't . I am going to have Jack over at Stuttgart check for leaks when I do an oil change. I need to do a Coolant reservoir replace, check lines and flush of the system, as you know those 110+ degree's will be here soon lol
