Hi!
I have 2005 Carrera S. Recently my battery started to die. I guess it is about time for a new battery anyway. When I put in the key in stuck in ignition. It looks like the lock needs power to release.
I could not open the boot to check/replace the battery, so I opened a small fuse panel in the left of the driver's, pulled out battery connector there and tried
to hook up electric charger there to charge the battery a little. It did not work. The charger does not show it draining any power, so perhaps the connector is is not
working. I must mention that my owner's manual is locked in the boot
Then I tried to charge via cigarette lighter slot. It was more promising. When I first plugged the charger, the airbag light on dashboard went on and the car started ringing (like it does when you forgot your seat belt). I left it there for few hours but when I came back the car was dark and silent but my power charger was making clicking noises as if
short circuit protection get triggered on and off.
This is where I am right now and I am looking for advise what could be done in this situation. Towing it to the dealer would be my last-resource option.
Thanks!
Your charger doesn't have enough power to pop the frunk. You need a donor battery to jump it.

Thanks! You were right. The problem was that my charger was too smart and it did not detect the load and was not switching on. I used
another car battery and was able to pop the trunk.
I've checked the battery electrolyte level and it was low on one side. Filled it up and plugged the charger to charge it. It is charging now.
I wonder if I can somehow check the battery health after the charging. I am concerned that it might charge enough for me to start and drive
off but I won't be able to start again once I stop.
I have Bleutooth ODBII dongle. Any useful battery information could be extracted though it? For example this app:

"
Reading and graphing battery voltage"
How the voltage plot over time of healthy battery look?
we sell this..This is the brand that started it all and its not the knock offs.. and i take it on a long trips.. you can restart a car about 10 times.. before all charge is gone..

Any automotive parts retailer that sells batteries will check it for you for free. (Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc., and just about anyone else that sells batteries).
After charging the battery the car seems to be starting OK. I will get it checked at the store anyway. Now I am seeing check engine light and my ODBII tool reports following
