Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've tested the unit by shorting the b+ 12 v in to the antenna power pin and the unit switches on fine and switches off.
Leading evidence: 'Test unit by shorting the b+ 12 v in' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test unit by shorting the b+ 12 v in' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Original pcm 2 doesn't use a switched live (I believe) but is controlled by Can instead ..

I've bench tested it using a switched live and it works.

I believe 996/986 use switched power to turn on the radio, even the PCM 2.0.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm trying to figure out if the AliExpress pccm will switch on via can bus ? The unit is supplied with two adapters one for non can bus cars that has pin 7 plug A switched live cable installed and one with a can bus adapter for cars with. Can . That adapter doesn't have the switched live cable installed at pin 7 on plug A. Original pcm 2 doesn't use a switched live (I believe) but is controlled by Can instead ..
My car had PCM 2 and can bus but when I attempt to install the AliExpress units it won't power up. I've bench tested it using a switched live and it works.
So does anyone have theirs working with CAN bus to power on ? If not what is the function of the can box on the adapter ?
I believe 996/986 use switched power to turn on the radio, even the PCM 2.0.
The 997/955 is the earliest vehicle to switch radio on by canbus.
There is a switched power wire on the unused 4 pin plug in the console.
Thanks , that's interesting. The A plug coming from the car doesn't have pin 7 switched live populated curious how pcm 2 gets it's switched live if it's not at pin 7 . Also interesting is the way both the supplied harnesses for the android unit are wired . The can bus harness has the power plug switched live wired to the adapter plug A power antenna pin . Where as the non can bus harness wires the switch live on the power plug (the one going directly into the back of the android head unit) going to switched live pin 7 . I think I'm correct in saying power antenna is an output ? So if you put a switched live onto that pin it will power the antenna and provide a switched live source for the power plug on the can bus harness . On the non can bus equipped harness the power antenna pin on plug A goes to a different pin on the power plug and though I've not tested I am assuming it gives a 12v output.
I've tested the unit by shorting the b+ 12 v in to the antenna power pin and the unit switches on fine and switches off. It will also switch off if a door is opened so I am assuming this is a can function ? So my can box is working sort of ? I've noticed in the factory settings menu that the can box software is listed as Cayenne BG 53 I think from memory .
