Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello! First, thanks for taking the time to read this thread. I have an '01 Boxster S that I love- but I'd like to install the cupholders and I'm going to upgrade the stereo so that I can get built in XM, Bluetooth and an Ipod plug. Here's how it looks now... Here are my questions... 1. Should I (do I need to, would you...) keep the factory DSP unit? 2. Can the new stereo (or the climate control unit) be mounted in the console below to make room for the cupholders? In advance, Thanks!

POST 2Original post

You can move the AC controls to below your storage box. It's not easy, but it can be done. You'll need to get a new face plate that surrounds it. My AC controls are down there. The cupholders will go where the AC controls are now. I had cupholders but now I have a nav unit. If you want BT, iPod, and XM you should get a new headunit. Check out Pioneer.

POST 3Original post

The DSP unit surround will work on your A/C controls if you move them to the bottom of the front console. You'll have to run the A/C connector down there. It's a pain to get it down there, but not difficult. If you go with an aftermarket stereo, you'll end up ditching the factory amp and DSP unit anyway, as you won't need them.

POST 4Original post

I have the dual cupholder assembly for sale out of my 01 if you want. PM me
