Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I change gears quickly I get a plastic sound similar to something cracking/clunking/clicking (the sound slightly changes between the 3). It happens when I'm trying to change gears quickly between 1-2, 2-3, 3-2, 2-1 and very occasionally 4-3. I've tried to get it to make the noise with the car turned off and can't get it to make the noise. It sounds as if its coming directly from where the gear selector is. Does anyone have any ideas where to start looking? Could it be one of the bayonet linkages?

POST 2Original post

Take the covers off and have a look. I hear the noise.  It seems like something could be loose.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took a quick look under the covers for the great knob. Everything seemed to be fine there. Ran out of time to check anything else. It's going into AutoArt tomorrow.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dam swype prediction.... GEAR knob.. GEAR KNOB!
