Mobil distributor has recommended Mobilube SHC75W-90 as a substitute.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
has anyone had their gearbox oil changed?
I am having trouble sourcing the correct oil which i believe is Mobilube PTX75W-90. Porsche part number is 0004 320 420.
Mobil distributor has recommended Mobilube SHC75W-90 as a substitute.
Can anyone confirm that this an acceptable substitute?

thanks Peter M, some say yes, others say no.
i can get PTX thru Porsche Australia, but its $1000 for 20 litres... and i only need 4 litres.
i can get the SHC for $320/20 litres.
OMG!
I'd try ebay:

or
go and read some labels at Repco, Autobarn or Supercheap!
Yes it is suitable. It's popular in the UK in the GT3 community, I've run it (and swepco 201 which wasn't as good for my UK driving conditions) in my LSD transaxle as well.
Here's some extra info -

The Delvac is marketed as Mobil SHC outside the US.
So Kelly, you should be able to buy that locally from a Mobil depot as it's used in trucks as well commonly?
