Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Clean bridge clip per older thread' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean bridge clip per older thread' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I would re-test for actual power potential using a "test light" with approximately the same wattage/amperage as the back-up light bulb...( grounding to a known good ground)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe. Tiptronic transmission. Reversing lights are inoperable. Fuse B5 and bulbs good. 12v present at B5 with shifter in R. With both bulbs removed from tail light assemblies and shifter in R, 12v is present at both sockets. Placing one bulb in either socket causes voltage drop to 0. Measuring 1.9k ohm between socket (+) and gnd. Has anyone experienced this issue or something similar? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I think the ground wire off the socket is bad or the sockets themselves r know to cause issues. Trace the ground back and make sure it has continuity to the chassis.
edit: i guess i would have to look at the drawing to see if the trans reverse sensor passes 12v or the ground through it? Does the socket have 12v when its in park? If so the switch/sensor grounds the circuit. If not then the switch is working and sending 12v to the socket.
Does the passenger side mirror dip when you put in reverse? If not the tip has a backup switch under the center console to the left of the selector. Works the mirror and the back up lights.
Thanks ****** 47. I do not have the mirror dip programmed. I'll give it a shot. I believe your referring to the Auto Trans Shift Selector Switch under the center console. I've not attempted access to that until I have a replacement on hand. I do measure 12v at fuse B5 when shifter in reverse.
Here is the wiring diagram for the back-up light circuit...There are two separate grounds for each side ( GP8 and GP9) so I don't think the ground is the problem, possibly the voltage you see with a DVOM has no amperage potential. I would re-test for actual power potential using a "test light" with approximately the same wattage/amperage as the back-up light bulb...( grounding to a known good ground)
Used test bulb at sockets to gnd. Same result as with meter. Test bulb lit until bulb inserted in either socket. Accessed Relay Support 2 position 6 behind rear seats. Removed and cleaned bridge clip per older thread. Same results. Could the seat memory control module be causing this issue ?
You are not using proper diag procedure to eliminate. Using the "test light/bulb" with known good ground, test these locations to narrow/eliminate wire sections and components
IE, if the bulb lights at location 4, but does not light at position 3, then the transmission switch is faulty/very high impedance.....
