Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

02 C2, 6 speed coupe. 182,000 on original engine.
Pretty sure Ive got a blown head gasket. No intermix that I can see but its overheating and pushing coolant out of the tailpipe.
What are my options? Havent gotten a quote yet on fixing it but I know itll be expensive. Have no idea how much. Put in a used motor (least favorite option), fix it, or sell it as a roller? Im bummed! Ive had it for 11 years and its been a terrific car.
M96 head gaskets don't blow. Leak down test and compression checks on all cylinders is first step. Could be intermix from oil cooler or even AOS. Coolant in oil or oil in coolant? Do more checking and testing before putting it on the scrap heap. If even it has D-chunked it can be repaired.
^^ Hes not wrong, you know.
If the engine had way less miles, then maybe the head crack could be fixed and put back together, but at this mileage, it probably needs a full rebuild.
There is life after M96. A life filled with power to spare, parts a plenty and support around every corner - all for less money.
Feel bad for the OP, but maybe turn the lemons into lemonade.
