Some say they have had luck with Wurth spray paint while others have used touch-up paint that Suncoast Porsche had specially made for this purpose, however, some users were not happy with the color match of these options.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had my 2000 Carrera at a dealership for service a couple of times back in Sept. and I just found one of my rear wheels scratched. I know the dealer is responsible because these were the only two times that I drove the car since last washing it and the wheel was not scratched at that time. I have the 17" "996 Carrera 2" wheels on this car and all of the wheel's spokes are scratched at the high points (in addition to a couple of other deep scratches) which looks like they allowed the wheel to fall on its face on concrete. You'd think a Pcar dealer would be more careful...
Has anyone had any luck finding a good paint match for our silver painted wheels? I know that Porsche does not make a direct match for this, which is really unbelievable to me. Some say they have had luck with Wurth spray paint while others have used touch-up paint that Suncoast Porsche had specially made for this purpose, however, some users were not happy with the color match of these options. In the end I'm not sure the color match matters all that much because my touch-up job will probably look like crap anyway
...but I guess a good match will certainly help.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for Pcar silver wheel touch-up paint?
As I mentioned in my post, some owners have found the Suncoast touch up paint to not be an exact/acceptable color match.
Thanks for the suggestion Peter...I'll give Wurth another look.
Thanks for the response Moe...
I tried taking pics (my photo skills really suck) but they do not adequately show the damage due to shadows and resolution issues.
I was afraid that a refinish was the only solution.
More should be expected from an authorized Porsche dealer.
OP - That’s sucky! I recommend you hold their noses over that steamer they left in your driveway. Moe’s right. No excuses, full repaint on their dime and time. You’re dead nuts on that a Pcar dealer charging mega $ for service hours is required to provide a level of care above the rest. If you wanted a pins-and-needles experience, you could’ve gone to any Brand X tire shop and said, “Have at it.”
The kit I just received is almost a perfect match for our 996 and 993, but a very, very slight bit dark for our '01 Boxster, all w/ original unrefinished wheels. On the Boxster, probably no one but me would notice. Unless you have something individually matched, you should expect a slight variance. Thats said, the Wurth silver is great paint, easy to work with, but I have never tried to match it to a Porsche wheel.
QuickSteel is the stuff to use to repair any divots in my opinion -- it contains aluminum powder and is sandable (unlike JB Weld). It feels like aluminum when you are sanding. The Wurth paint and clear coat was a a perfect match. I had to mark the tires with tape to remember which areas had been fixed.
I agree hat...this BS should NOT happen at a Pcar dealer. I sent them a message and they seem to be open to fixing the wheel but their message also included verbiage that made it seem like I was blaming the wrong party...which kind of pisses me off!!! I know, without a doubt, that they marred the wheel!
Thanks...good to know.
Thanks Peter. This sort of looks like my wheel damage but the damage is far more subtle on my wheel. BTW, nice work! Your repair looks GREAT!
Good to know...thanks for your reply.
On second thought Peter, your wheel looks so good that I would like to pay YOU to fix my wheel. LOL J/K, I know you have better things to do...BTW, I think we probably met in the last several years as I have done the Pocono RTR PCA autox a couple of times...
I only wish I had time, but you should have good results doing it. Haven't done any autox, we often do the road rallies in the NNJR region of PCA -- those are very fun events.
