Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That is not a normal used oil analysis for even a freshly rebuilt M96 engine, even with steel sleeves.
Leading evidence: 'Use oil analysis' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with next oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

We'll check with next oil change but said if it's driving well then not to be too concerned.

Suggestion
Did you change oil after break-in( using dino oil)....at like 100 miles........500 miles?

I would recommend changing the oil again in 1,000 miles and resampling.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All,
I recently had an extensive rebuild done at 74k miles due to an IMS failure. I went with the IMS total solution on the rebuild and have logged my first 1000 miles post rebuild completion in August.
The car drives perfectly, but had an oil analysis done with first oil change post rebuild and found quite a bit of iron in the oil still. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this or can chime in, there are a lot of brand new parts on the engine so it'd make sense for some metals to be filtering through.
Like I said though, the car drives flawlessly, so not sure if should be concerned or if after the next 1000 miles if I should expect to see a far more "normal" report.
Any input appreciated, thanks.
Was this first oil after break-in oil? Your oil filter will also likely have some metal debris. Do another UOA after 2,000 miles or 6 months. New engine internals shed micro amounts of metals. Others here with recent engine work will certainly chime in.
They're not concerned, they said with all the new parts that it's to be expected. We'll check with next oil change but said if it's driving well then not to be too concerned.
So to reiterate the pertinent questions that have gone unanswered:
1 - Wheres the UOA? It would be helpful to see all the data.
2 - What kind of break in was done? What break in oil was used?
3 - What other parts were used in the full rebuild
Cylinders, pistons, rings anything done to the crank?
4 - You mentioned IMSB failure What stage did it fail to? Was it a catastrophic failure? Was the valve train damaged? Crank case? Etcetc etc
5 - What is the Total IMS Solution ? Is that an actual product or just something of a typo?
As you can see there are way too many unanswered questions to come up with anything that resembles an educated answer to your original question. If you see fit to answer a few of them Im sure youll get at least a few solid leads
Please post the UOA. As someone else already asked, it would also be good to know if the engine has been fitted with steel sleeves. At this point, I've seen thousands of used oil analysis results and I can probably differentiate between normal and abnormal. That said, the values will be highest right after a rebuild. I would recommend changing the oil again in 1,000 miles and resampling. Wear levels should be significantly lower. If they are not, then you can start asking more questions of the engine builder.
