Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey peeps, ive installed a new Sony double din. All working fine...however. when I move, ie in reverse and moving forward (effectively as soon as the car recognises km/h in the hud, the head unit turns off. When I stop, it turns back on. no lose cabling, so must be a function of some kind. anyone have any ideas or experienced this before?

POST 2Original post

I know on my alpine i had to connect a cable on the back of the head unit that disabled something similar to that... Not sure on the Sony.

POST 3Original post

Sounds like you've used the speed sensor wire somewhere....

Does that exist? do you think it could be this?

POST 5Original post

The wire does exist, from memory it was a pink of some sort and I'm pretty sure I did not use it. Mind you my install was well over 5 years ago!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Solved. for whatever reason, I didn’t have a Switched 12V available at all. May have been one under the lower console for the unused phone, but instead pulled power from the 12v switched in the cigarette lighter. Wonder why my car was different to others? We’ll never know.
