Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys I had my 1999 996 C4 on the lift today . Previous owner said he installed a ROW M030 suspension including sway bars . Based on Rennlist search the M030 sway bars are 23.6mm front and 19.6mm rear .
With a caliper the front bar measures .945 which is 24mm . I had to measure the front bar about 10 " from the ends I couldn't measure in the middle . But it looks like the front bar is a M030 .
The rear bar is easy to measure . I checked several spots in the middle and came up with .825 which is 21mm . Hmmm . The GT3 rear bar is 20.8mm. So assuming my measurements are accurate do I have a ROW M030 front bar and a GT3 rear bar ?
I have contacted the previous owner and he thinks he has emails that might clear this up . The car handles great and I am not looking to change the bars . But I want to order new bushings and would prefer to get the right ones . Any advice/comments appreciated .
Previous owner said he had emails with Suncoast Porsche regarding kit # 000 044 500 08 . But he has other emails discussing GT3 sway bars . But no emails confirming what he ended up buying 😕 .
Gt3 bars r the only bars that r adjustable with several bolt holes for the links. So if the ends r multi position the its a gt3 bar if not its a standard bar from a specific model.
Neither bar is adjustable . So I guess my rear bar is a M030 with thick paint 😁 . So are new sway bar bushings a " fit all " or should I order bushings to fit the dimensions I measured ?
OP - Sway bar thickness is measured at the bushing. So if you got that diameter (20,9mm) at the bushing, you have a true mystery bar. That being the case, youll need to order 21mm bushings.
Bushings r specific to the bar diameter. Although when i got my car the po squeezed a bigger bar into the original bushings so it can be done....its just not the correct way.
It's a C4, it's heavier than a C2, it has larger sway bars.
I do not like the idea of squeezing a bigger bar through a smaller bushing. It sounds like a perfect way to focus all of the bending forces into a small area.
What size front sway bar is on the standard suspension 99 C4, FCP says 22mm bushing (
99634379211)
for C4 and 22.5mm bushing (99634379214) for C2, is this info from FCP wrong, C2 is thicker then C4? The rear on both C2 & C4 it says 18.7mm bushing (
99633379224)
.
After some more internet searches I think I figured out what rear bar I have . I measured again today and still came up with roughly 21mm . Per FVD website it is 996 333 701 27 which is a 20.7mm M030 . Their website says it fits C2 and C4 . So without actually seeing part numbers on the bars I am confident I have 23.6mm + 20.7mm M030 sways . Hopefully this can help someone in the future .
