Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, being an idiot I locked my car on the key last night, disconnected the battery after that, dropped and shut the bonnet. What I’ve managed to do is now only be able to unlock the door with the key, but the bonnet and engine bay levers are locked down (cable release car). Just to add insult to injury, I stripped out the front wheel arch to look for the emergency cable to find that in the really early cars like mine, they don’t have one. What’s next? Jump the fuse box to get the central locking engaged or is that a big no, no? Any ideas that allow me to get back into this thing?

POST 2Original post

you can put power through the cigarette lighter of the jump post in the fuse box.

I’m trying to use fuse c3 in the fuse box, is that not the one? Im illuminated dash, the window has dropped, but the levers won’t move. If it makes a difference, the battery is physically disconnected at the negative terminal

POST 5Original post

you can hook up a 12v battery like your doing to somewhere on the car and it should work. battery charger probably won't though.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorted, battery charger with positive to C3 and negative on the door hinge. Phew, nightmare averted.

POST 7Original post

The emergency release cable should be tucked underneath the right side headlight so you can pry it out with a zip tie or something.
