Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'm driving a 997.2 C2S. My previous set of winter tires/wheels were 18-inch non-standard Blizzak LM60FZs which fit and rode well but I can't find replacements in exact (or even close) replacement sizes. I chose to go closer to standard 18-inch size with the Michelin Alpin PA4s which are 235/40-18 up front (same as factory spec) and 255/40-18 in the back (not exactly the same as factory 265/40-18 but close enough). I'm picking up wheels that came off a 2000 "Millenium edition" 911 since the new rears won't fit on the older wheels. The new wheels are 8x18 ET52 and 10x18 ET65 (compared to factory specs of 8x18 ET57 and 10.5x18 ET60). My question is whether I'm going to need spacers to ensure the rear wheels clear the brakes and if so, what size? 5mm? 7mm? I'm not concerned about the look, just the fit and handling. If I did add spacers to the rear, should I be taking them off again when I swap back to summer tires in the spring? I'm running standard 19-inch PS4s for summer driving.

POST 2Original post

You shouldn't have fitment issues, the difference in offsets is very small. You may consider spacers in the rear for looks, since new wheels will sit 5mm inward vs stock, plus new tires are 10mm narrower. You can keep the spacers on for summers as you'll likely prefer the more aggressive stance. I'd recommend 10mm rear spacers.
