Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dont tell my boss, but with the help of my daughter we have been trying to replace the clutch helper spring on my car, between work meetings. The joy of working from home!! We got the drivers seat out and have managed the push the absurdly tough clutch pedal down with a broom handle and some blocks of wood. But we are now stuck. YouTube shows that this should now juat fall out, but ours is stuck. I pushed a nail into the unit to lock the spring. Was that right? Any advice please?

POST 2Original post

Remove the hvac tube and make your life easier: there's a screw on the driver and a screw on the passenger side, then you cut the wire harness zip tie and you can negotiate it out Then take a long flat screwdriver and push the end of the assembly out of its c-shaped cradle (visible in your photo)

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I will give this a go this afternoon. I have already managed to fracture a rib by laying across the sill!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks @Dovoda75 - getting it out - done!! Now getting the new one in - i tried with the help of my wife and daughter for two hours this evening. No joy at all. Its so tough to push the clutch down.

POST 5Original post

Try driving it without, it's only on start that it's hard, when actually driving it's fine and much more "connected". And put the seat back in, you can access the area by lying diagonally across the sill. With the seat in you can use a 2x4 and the seat to have the clutch pressed down

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I won! New clutch helper spring in. Its a fiddly job at very awkward angles under the dash. My clutch is about 50% lighter now. Im really pleased.

POST 7Original post

Not for the faint hearted this one. I know a small indy who'll do pretty much any job on a 9x6/9x7 but won't do these. Well Done.
