Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Are there any solutions to prevent 996 converter theft?
Had an enterprising individual try to snag my exhaust while at the gym. Nice day so I took the cab, about a mile after leaving I notice the exhaust seems a little loud. Another 1/2 mile and it sounds AWFUL and smells super rich. I just finished an engine out service 100 miles ago so my stomach sinks and I assume my variocam chain just skipped, or maybe I had a D chunk. Other than the noise and a little smoke though it seems to drive fine, so knowing the damage is done I just limp it home.
I get home, guess what, the header to cat nuts are all missing.
Couple bolts still there intact without nuts, I know all 6 didnt back out. Either they got interrupted, didnt have a sawzall, or just gave up when they couldnt figure out the hanger brackets. I got lucky AF.
Curious if anyone has come across theft reduction products or has creative ideas.
Theyre 200 cell cats so I guess thats already a mitigation, relatively cheap to replace.

Great ideas!
I put the cats and mufflers back together today. They almost got 'em. All the sleeve and flange bolts were loosened or missing. They couldn't figure out the hanger C straps! I had rotated them up so the bolts weren't visible, you'd need a wobble socket to get to them. They got one loose but the other one must have slowed them down.
Might put a second set of hangers on to make it even harder. Obviously someone could just cut them, not much can be done about that. I like the idea of a straight pipe, doubt the HOA would though. This car has 200 cell cats and Gundo hack, it's already at the limit of what my neighbors will tolerate.
I had a theft at this same gym recently, and I consider this the sign that I need to move my membership.
They took the time to unbolt it??? Wow, you really have some considerate crooks.
Around here, Cat-burgulars just cut the thing off in seconds and roll to the next victim.
That's the way they are around here !! They probably have already pawned all their tools ( all except the sawsall )...lol
I got my New Heat Pump unit stolen off my driveway while it was still running !!
I'm not, I live in a very small peaceful little Suburb, but the "crackhead" epidemic is not restricted to the big cities, it's everywhere now...
They love to steal cats on pick-ups and SUV's , they just slide under while you are in a store and whack it off in seconds and gone !! In Broad daylight !!
They dont care, the police wont even file reports anymore, and even if you have the picture and license number of the thief it isnt a crime the police care about. If they do arrest the person, he or she will not have any punishment. They do it in broad daylight and dont care. Its disgusting and stressful. Bad people bringing yiu down to their level
I am so tired of low life MFs trying and sometimes succeeding in stealing something I worked hard for. And its not just Cats. Its everything. Sometimes we have to take control of these situations. Remember my Rennlist friends. There are no victims just volunteers..
This might be an answer with many added advantages including filming your best rides! I fitted a rearview mirror DVR dashcam with three cameras as added security. Not a strapon but one that fits onto the original windscreen bracket. It is very slightly bigger than the OEM mirror but you would not know once installed. It is a very discreet unit that includes just about everything, gps navigation, radio (not that you'd use it) and handsfree mobile connection to your smartphone. I did not get mine from AliBaba but that is the only place that I can find the same unit online currently

. I think I got mine from Fruugo. I also got this camera integrated into a 996 licence plate light unit

. You might need to swap out the camera unit with the one that comes with the DVR because the connectors are different but it's a perfect fit and very easy.
I agree with being prepared but booby traps are illegal in the US at least. If prevention means having to hide your pride and joy from people then it is a sad world we live in today.
These guys had the right idea a little while back in South Africa …..the “blaster” anti car jacking flame thrower! just for BMW’s however I’m sure we can adapt it
