The other side (the photo with the tightened bolt) appears to indicate the collar sits further in that i've been able to achieve on the loose side.

It was incredibly hard to tighten - I'd thought it was just stiff but now i think I may have cross threaded it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of the tips tried to divorce me this week. When putting it back on, I stripped the bolt. It was incredibly hard to tighten - I'd thought it was just stiff but now i think I may have cross threaded it. Two questions for those in the know...... 1. There is an inner collar that sits inside the clamp. This was v difficult to slide over, and the image below shows how far I managed to get it. The other side (the photo with the tightened bolt) appears to indicate the collar sits further in that i've been able to achieve on the loose side. Do I have enough coverage to tighten away? If not, any trick to getting further over the collar? Have greased it already... 2. The M8 bolt. Does anyone know the part number (or can I use any high strength bolt for this job)? Thanks guys.

POST 2Original post

I'd be popping myself down to my local fastenings place with the broken bolt so they can match a replacement, but in SS instead.........

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just to bookend; I managed to get the collar fully within the clamp after a bit of persuading, and Mario at Porschworx gave me some suitable M8 x 35 bolts. Job done.
