Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Vibration is when sat, not when moving.....car drove perfect on the test drive it was just when sat in traffic I noticed a very slight vibration.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Evening gents!
So i took a nice 996 4S out for a test drive today. Liked the car and seemed in really good condition. Only thing ive noticed on initial viewing was a bit of vibration whilst sat in passenger seat.....not bad but definitely there. On idle it was smooth so not thinking its engine related but maybe mounts?? Exhaust is aftermarket Topgear exhaust which sounds great.....just to add exhaust tips sit level and high up if it matters. Hopefully taking it for an inspection at weekend and borescope.......anything else you recommend checking for? Hopefully joining the 911 club soon
Age, mileage, history, ownership, spec and price? I'd say the sound of the aftermarket exhaust is neither here nor there. Where will you take it for an inspection?
2002, 74k, fsh, 6 owners, seal grey with black ruffled leather, asking £20k. Modifications are the exhaust and an android head unit installed (still has otiginal unit). I will check history in abit more depth before committing yet. I will be taking it to my mechanic/garage who is a friend of mine for the inspection (I did try CMS as the cars not far from them but they are already booked up to mid August so cant inspect it).
Should have said its tiptronic......the old manual vs tiptronic debate
. Personally would prefer manual but at the price i think its about right all things considered??
I would really like a 996tt but it is another £15k minimum and I know thats bottom end of the pricing for one. My thoughts im probably better off with a good 996 4S as opposed to the cheapest 996tt
Vibration is when sat, not when moving.....car drove perfect on the test drive it was just when sat in traffic I noticed a very slight vibration. Im thinking maybe engine mounts??

Manual with engine rebuild.
I know nothing about the car or dealer so would need due diligence. AMS i believe use Hartech Liners.
Oh if its anything internal i will be running
. Really dont think its anything like that though, im really leaning towards mounts but we'll give it a good check over.....it was a very slight vibration and could be me being overly cautious! Can anyone confirm should there be any vibration at all on idle?
You can often identify bad engine mounts by looking at the exhaust tips - they should sit neatly in their little bumper recesses. If there’s a significant gap then that’s usually a good indicator that they’re worn.
If the car has had mods, is it possible that stiffer track-focused mounts have been added? I imagine that would add some NVH.
