Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well at 10pm last night, as I’m shutting up the 996 on the drive the stereo decided to transmit static over the speakers at full volume and wouldnt turn off! A state of panic ensured with frantic pressing of buttons to no avail. Pulled the key, no change, started it and turned off again and peace restored. Felt like an age but prob 45seconds . Just been out now and all working fine so I don’t know if its one of the stereo components or something else. The ign key feels a bit funny so maybe the switch. It has the PCM2 / amp / CD changer / most fibre optic system. Any suggestions? It was EXTREMELY loud static type hiss! Adrenalin just about dissipated !

POST 2Original post

One of your wires has perished and it's exposed the conductor. Mine was the pre-amp on my non porsche system, i was chasing earth's for ages until i found it. Wouldn't turn off no matter what i did, then i decided to change them anyway and found it. Time to get the multimeter out
