I’ve also used XCP on the diagonal braces which aren’t perfect but I haven’t had a chance to remove and refinish yet - the XCP has an active anti-rust ingredient I believe, as well as being a protective finish.

They advised at the mileage that I do, this would be the recommended (its also cheapest).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've left the thread title as general as possible so that we can keep this under one thread.
I'm looking to have my undercarriage cleaned, rust removed (I'm sure there'll be some on a 22 year old car) and protected. I initially considered Autofarm however I've come across a more local firm to West London at a better price. There are two underseals that I'm considering:
1. XCP - Clear underseal that won't alter the look which shouldn't impact resale of my car. Downside is that it usually required yearly application however I only do 4000 miles a year. They advised at the mileage that I do, this would be the recommended (its also cheapest).
2. German Underseal - Which is the recommended product for Porsche and Mercedes Benz. Lasts longer and provides better protection. Doesn't require a yearly top up. It leaves a black finish.
Do you think number 2 would put a potential buyer off purchasing the car in future? I will ensure the process is documented. I could own my car from anywhere between another 3 to 10 years, maybe longer. There are also clear BH options such as Dynax which offer better protection than XCP however you can tell something was applied when compared to XCP.

I'd go for the XCP , the German underseal looks terrible imo and would certainly put me off owning a car with that on it. Reminds me of an old ford Cortina back in the day. If you don't drive in the winter and avoid salty roads i can't see the need for it.
Yeah I agree that it looks terrible. I think I'll go for either the XCP or the BH Dynax Clear which lasts 2 to 4 years.
I do drive my car all year round (3 time a week on average). However I tend avoid driving when the roads have been salted unless necessary.
Theres a company i use in Dudley, it's called krown which is another product like xcp. Takes him a few hours, but it's a while you wait service and he's got loads of tea, coffee and snacks! Cost me about £280 4 years ago. I've had a few cars done.

For reference this photo is immediately after cleaning my arches and applying Dynax UC. It was completely matt and unnoticable shortly afterwards. It’s decent stuff and has really held up on my Landy which sees much worse conditions. I do apply annually however.
I’ve also used XCP on the diagonal braces which aren’t perfect but I haven’t had a chance to remove and refinish yet - the XCP has an active anti-rust ingredient I believe, as well as being a protective finish. Once dry you could apply Dynax over the top of the XCP too but perhaps not practical or necessary.
I've decided to use a firm called ARP based in High Wycombe. I'm booked in for the end of February as that was the earliest available slot. I'll provide an update once it's all been completed. The last set of pictures shared were from someone who recommended the place to me.
They also did a 996 recently although I'm not sure if the owner is on this site.
