Can anyone recommend the best setup for fast road, on the aggressive/sharp side but not too much of a pain on the motorway?

It's on bilstein B16s and runs a little lower than stock, but happy to change anything....

Suggestion

As you increase rear camber you lose the ability to bring the rear tow in, and that is a really important setting for a road set up.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have my 996 booked in for getting a 4 wheel alignment done next week. Can anyone recommend the best setup for fast road, on the aggressive/sharp side but not too much of a pain on the motorway? Have a ~3k trip next month to the Harz mountains then Nurburgring next month. It's on bilstein B16s and runs a little lower than stock, but happy to change anything....

POST 2Original post

Bit of camber front/ rear. I'm running -1.8 on the fronts and -2 on the rear. Easy enough to do on stock suspension parts with B16's. Toe in total at front 2mm and rear toe about 2mm each side. Ride height is about GT3 height or 330mm front and 345mm rear, try to keep a bit of rake.

POST 3Original post

I would go with something like..... Front 1.5 negative camber 0.03 toe in Rear 2.0 negative camber 0.10 tow in. That will give you some very good grip, be nice and neutral without the back end kicking out unless provoked, and nice steering feel. If you can't get to 1.5 on the front don't worry, 1,0 negative will be fine for the road, in fact may be a bit comfier and less likely to follow the camber of the road everywhere. If you can't get to at least 0.9 on the rear toe in, reduce camber down a bit until you can. As you increase rear camber you lose the ability to bring the rear tow in, and that is a really important setting for a road set up. Soften the dampers to full soft, they are good dampers and don't need to be too firm for the road.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's great, thanks for the replies. Shocks were on 10 when I got it (hardest) and it was a nightmare on back roads. Now on 2.
