Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sometime in the spring my car started to make a rattle when accelerating out of first at low RPMs or attempting to crawl in traffic or a parking lot. It almost sounds like a chain rattling. If I rev it up a bit more the sound does not occur. It sounds as if it is coming from the gearbox and sometimes you can even feel it vibrate through the gas pedal if the car is cold. I figured you would be able to feel it through the clutch pedal, if anything, so I though that was interesting.
Have any of you experienced this phenomenon? It is worth noting that my car has been experiencing more and more gearbox problems such as: having to shift from 1st to neutral and then to 2nd when car is cold and unable to even select 1st if car is even rolling the slightest bit. I recently had a tech look at it and all its problems and he said I was worrying to much and shifting like an American (he is french and worked for Porsche in Germany). Yesterday, for the first time, the car was making a terrifying noise that I would have thought was an IMS eating itself, but it stopped and I could not recreate it after. The 996 owner who makes the Car Wow videos experienced what I considered to be a very similar noise and it turned out to be the gearbox.
Any ideas from the Porsche gurus? Here is the video for reference:

It should start right when the sound is happening. If it doesn't, the sound is at 1min 43secs.
My 986 S did that and so does my 996, but it only happened when I actuated the clutch pedal - when the clutch was grabbing. When the clutch was fully in or out, it didn't make the noise.
This is exactly the same for me. Right at the end of the clutch pedal you get the rattle. In or out there is nothing. Have you had it checked out by a tech?
I think you should try to record some video. Some of your issues seem normal (difficult to shift into 1st while cold and while moving), but then I wonder what that "horrible noise" is
Have the same issue with my car (992 GTS) which i found not to be normal as i owned also a 992 S which made no noise whatsoever. Took it to the dealership 3 times and they said that it is functional and if it is not worse than other cars then dont do anything which was a ****ty anwer to be honest. You can here the sound towards the end on the following link :

So, while the 992 (2023) is a slightly different animal,
it certainly shouldnt make that noise. Did you buy the car from the dealer youre bringing it to? If so, you should be speaking to the general manager or the owner of the dealership. Theres no way a 1yr. old $100k+ car should be making a freaking/crunching sound when you step on the clutch! Operational? Thats ridiculous - maybe they cant figure it out because the computer isnt telling them (the techs) whats wrong
