Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys and Gals, im in the middle of refreshing the front suspension on my 996 c4s. I noticed that the bolt holes through which the top mounts attach are slotted, allowing around 10mm of movement. It this critical when re-assembling? There are marks on the paint showing a couple of different positions down through the years. Any advice greatly appreciated. M

POST 2Original post

Welcome ... Similar to this picture ? It will be to allow suspension / wheel alignment geometry adjustment, predominantly the camber. Are the nuts marked in line with those on the body ?

POST 3Original post

You will certainly need to get your suspension realigned, if settings are lost or replacing with new parts. Porsche allow for adjustments to be made, more so on GT cars.
