Suspected cause
I wonder if it was the 'ackermann' judder which can lead the spring to go 'boing' (technical term) when it happens.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

No stalling, but it took a lot of shifting (also didn't help that the driveway has been re-gravelled and is therefore pretty deep in places).
Afternoon all,
A weird thing happened this afternoon, after cleaning the car. It only needed a rinse/quick wash, which it had. I drove it before putting it back in the garage to help dry the brakes and shake any excess off. I didnt go far, to the end of my development and did a big ish U Turn out of the junction onto the main road and back in again. At this point, as I'd aimed left, to do a big right turn back in, as the car headed into the road on full lock, there was an odd noise from what sounded like, front left tyre (as I was facing) as I pulled that big right hander. It sounded like a pin, or a spring popping out and maybe hitting a piece of metal and then it hitting the floor. (No loud bangs or anything hitting under the car)
Should this worry me? Car drove back okay and stopped okay and turned okay, I couldn't see anything obvious. It's possible of course, the tyre hit some debris on the road, ad pinged it away.
The slight reason I have a concern, is I last had the car out two sundays ago, and came home in a lot of rain. The car has been in the garge since. I dont leave the handbrake on, but, when I had to move it last week, the wheels were seized to the brakes and it did stall 3 times on trying to free it up (In my near 5 years of ownership, I have never had anything stick this bad)
Could I have potentially mucked any elements of the brakes up? I think Im best getting it looked at of course, but thought I'd ask first.
Thank you.
Mark
I would check the left hand front coil spring. Breakages are increasingly common, and it is usually a 4-5" section that breaks off one end and falls to the ground. Difficult to inspect, but see if one end of the spring has a sharp end to it.
Thanks, Richard. Nothing noticeable, but I hope to be early to RPM in a few weeks time and get it on the ramp, as I have a few others things Id like input on. It drove well to Bicester H on Sunday, so, it could have been something on the road.
Weird, most likely debris but worth a check.
My wheels seized to the brakes the other week as well. I had washed it incl wheels but then took it for a 15 min spin to warm the brakes up and clear out any remaining moisture. However, it was then parked up (also without handbrake) for about a week and it completely seized up. Mine lives outside so was also at the mercy of Storm Eunice and co. No stalling, but it took a lot of shifting (also didn't help that the driveway has been re-gravelled and is therefore pretty deep in places).
Are the wheels seizing likely to be purely related to moisture or could there be something more serious afoot? (Awheel?)
