Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pulled into garage, was trying to give some extra room on driver side for wife, got too close on passenger side, and left a nice scrape right down to plastic. Just finished suspension refresh, swapping on new-to-me Turbo Twists, and brand new tires... and kill joy with a self inflicted scrape. wah Buy a new housing and paint? Or find some touch up paint and try and forget it (prior owner touched up chips around headlight and it looks so bad) vent vent vent

POST 2Original post

Have it painted not a big deal or get the rennline carbon fiber covers

Keeping this 99' early build fully stock, so will repaint, but last night after doing it I was just so annoyed with myself. Throw the car out and start over was on the list lol

POST 4Original post

I would find one on eBay or auto dismantler. Very common color and would be less expensive than buying new and painting.

POST 5Original post

I feel for ya. That bites! I've done similar things on mine too and it just kills me at that moment. I have to remember that if it were to be a museum perfect piece, then it should be kept in the museum and not used and that is NOT what I bought it for. You'll get if fixed one way or another and be happy.

I found this place via eBay - seem to have a lot of them available. Just wonder how close paint will match... but you are right, way cheaper than new + paint. https://specializedgerman.com/

POST 7Original post

I have bought a bunch of stuff from Specialized German including an engine for my Cayenne Turbo and have been very happy with them. PS I can't wait to see your car on those 993 twists.

A+ seller. I have purchased many parts from them.

POST 10Original post

man, I know the feeling of fix or throw the car away LOL my front bumper needs some love. I'm going to try it myself first, got color matched paint off Amazon from ERA paints. If it works, then great! If not, I'll have it professionally done.

POST 12Original post

+ 1 on Specialized German. Great source for used Porsche parts.

I've purchased from them too. Great people to deal with if there is a problem. A starter sent to me disappeared before being delivered. They sent out another one right away. Color should match pretty good. I have 6 Seal Grey shells and they all match. Now I have the carbon fiber ones from Rennline. Watch the video on Rennline about how to replace them. Too many people on Youtube go the difficult route. It only takes 5 minutes to swap them out if you do it right. Otherwise it's going to take >30 minutes if you follow some Youtube videos.

Wow. It's the little things in life. I was able to get the passenger mirror to fold (the one I scratched), with quite a bit of force, but the drive side one feels closer to snapping the plastic than folding, so I might not risk my luck with it. Who knows if it's ever been been folded in 24 years.
