Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, Wanted to share a few pics of my newly acquired DD. It's a 99 model purchased with 88K on the odometer. So far so good, I am really liking the A/C compared to what was called an A/C on my 911 SC. These pics were taken after I got done replacing the rotors and pads, a very EASY DIY. I added the Valentine 1, and smoked lenses up front. BTW, has anyone lowered just the front? I bought the H&R springs and would like to decrease the wheel well gap, but I assume lowering the back would cause some serious rubbing issues because of the 19's. Is it possible to lower just the front and not suffer from the imbalance? TIA for your replies. Before: After:

POST 2Original post

Nice car but you don't want to be lowering the front only. a) it won't look right and b) it won't handle right. Thing is...the car was not meant to have 19" wheels, but that said, the overall diamater should be the same, just that the 19" tires will have a lower profile. Are you running spacers too, maybe that's why the potential clearance issue. Maybe the offsets are not correct for your car. Long story short - you can lower it just like any 996, but not if you try to undo the good work the engineers at Porsche have done for the sake of bling. Here's mine on 18" sport classic II wheels. No spacers, Bilstien PSS9 coilovers and H&R sway bars. It handles very well and no clearance issues. My buddy runs the same setup with spacers by the way.

POST 3Original post

H&R Spirngs with Bilstien HD shocks, 19 inch wheels with correct offsets. Lots of clearance, great ride. Car is being race converted and the spring/shock combo will be for sale in a couple of weeks... cheers

POST 4Original post

Just brought my 1999 model home Friday. All stock at the moment. 126,000 miles total with 36,000 on a factory remanufactured engine. Needing some TLC. I may start a home for neglected Porsche. I like the wheels you guys have Jtilden & Jasper. I'm not too fond of the Twists. Jeff Alton, pm me regarding your pending suspension sale, I may have an iterest. I am really enjoying this car, great starter Porsche!

POST 5Original post

Will do, the RUF wheels are available too! Cheers
