Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Actually, I ended up dialing back the throttle response and this also cured the problem.

POST 1Original post

Hi - hoping to get some help. My 986 has been experiencing power loss under high load around 5000-6000 RPM intermittently. Difficult to reproduce though when it happens, the engine does not die - loses pwer and throttle response. Killing and restarting the ignition seems to reset it. It does produce a p1508 error and all points to the MAF though after replacing it, the issue still happens occasionally. Any thoughts? suggestions? Thanks in advance Paul

POST 2Original post

Upon what basis do you believe P1508 points to the MAF? If I'm not mistaken it points to the e-Gas system to a difference in commanded an actual throttle opening, something like that. (I can't put my hands on the e-Gas document I have.)

POST 3Original post

A number of forums pointed to MAF as being an issue for similar symptoms. Problem is now resolved though. It was related to an ECU update. Issues with the flash update though initially the provider (not to be named) insisted it was not due to them. Flashed back to stock and it was fine. thanks all

POST 5Original post

10 years later I ran into the same mysterious P1508 code. Another indication is the Durametric freeze frame scan give an "Implausible" as the Fault Symptom This is the only Form post on this code so I thought I would add my experience too. The cause is self-inflicted playing with the EMC ( E lectronic M otor C ontroller but in German) mapping. In my case I was pushing the Throttle response to improve track performance. Somewhere in the EMC Porsche has error checking or limits. When things go outside those boundaries the P1508 code comes up and the engine goes into limp mode. In my case turning the car off and back on did not clear the limp mode. I needed to clear the code with an OBD reader. Solution was to flash back the previous EMC map. Actually, I ended up dialing back the throttle response and this also cured the problem. My car is a 2007 987.1 Cayman base. Lots of upgrades to suspension and engine.
