I know that the launch price in 2020 was £155,970 but I believe that there were two price increases before it was replaced by the 992.2 at a base price of £199,100.

I ran a 991.1 Turbo S for a few years and am thinking of getting back in to a 911 of some flavour.

I don't think this sort of thing is covered by the extended warranty but they took it in multiple times, diagnosed it and fixed it.
Think you are missing the incredibly oportunistic pricing that Porsche have applied to the latest models! (And the resultant lack of current buyers!)
Assuming of course you are actually looking at 992.1 Turbo S (Rather than a 991.1!).
I'm in the same boat at the moment - I have a 991.2 Turbo Cab at the moment, and am planning on changing it in the Spring - but to get what is pretty much the same car but a generation newer, I'm looking at roughly a £50K premium over what I paid in 2021.
Does make you ponder other brands as well (and I've been a loyal Porsche driver for 20 years!)

It may have been 155k at launch but that rose over the subsequent years of sale. Base price on my invoice in 2022 was 141k plus VAT.
Most vehicles were well north of 180k.
Your numbers are correct. The MY2020 Turbo S was just over £155k but residuals of all models have been supported by new car price inflation. By the time production ceased in 2024 the list price had increased to £180,600! You should also account for dealer margin which is going to be in the range of £15-20k for a Turbo, to determine true depreciation.

That's very interesting. So a 2022 car had a base price of £170k, and as you say most cars will be specced with at least £10k of extras.
I'll need to up my budget or look at a different variant 911 variant.
Thanks
I've been out of Porsche ownership for a few years now. I ran a 991.1 Turbo S for a few years and am thinking of getting back in to a 911 of some flavour.
Anyway, I'm looking at used 992.1 Turbo S models and am slightly surprised by how expensive they still are. 2020/2021 cars that aren't very high mileage or four plus previous owners etc are about £140k at OPC. From what I remember the car was £155k at launch, and assuming £10k of extras that puts the car at about £165k. So an asking price of just £25k less for a 4 to 5 year old car seems ridiculously good residuals.
Were they made in very low numbers? Or have I got rrp at launch wrong? Am I missing something else?
Thanks

I have a 2021 turbo s cab. 32k miles when bought £38k now.
I paid £117k 12 months ago.
Prices generally are softening but the softening will be limited by the huge prices of the new cars.
There are lots of very low miles cars about which I suspect have been clocked / mileage blocked as I just don't believe these cars sit in garages.
Look on the auto trader tracker. Find one that has been sticking and make a bid. They don't fly off the shelves unless property priced.

That seems like a very keen price for the car you bought, well done.
I'd much prefer buying from the OPC, I know you can get extended warranties from Porsche no matter where the car is bought from....but for some reason I gravitate towards the OPC.
I had two 991.1 Turbo S vehicles (one was stolen after 9 months ownership) and both were purchased from OPC and I was happy with the service.

I found this video quite helpful in terms of options, especially seeing the standard car and aerokit side by side.
It's been quite some years since I was in Porsche ownership so I haven't really been keeping track.
I've posted this video here in case other members thinking of buying a 992.1 TS find it helpful.
If anyone knows the exact pricing of the TS through the years kindly post it here, others might find it helpful.

Turbo S was launched in 2020, but I think it was released as a 2021 model year. I have the following prices :
MY2021 £155,970
MY2022 £164,650
MY2023 £168,900
MY2024 £180,600

I have the Burmester in mine, it's a good system and I would go for it again.

Thanks.
I'm actually surprised about how few people have specced it considering it 'only' costs £2k. People seem to spend thousands on stupid little bits of extra leather, trim etc whereas the Burmester is an amazing piece of kit that makes every journey more enjoyable.
(I'm assuming it's as good as the Burmester that was in my 991.1 TTS, I really enjoyed listening to music on that)
acwh said:
Pretty sure it was more like 5k. Personally I prefer to spend on decent kit for home less so something that has the acoustics of a bean can!
It was definitely closer to £5k in the 991 TS but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that in the 992 it was only £2k.
Cars will always be acoustically compromised but the Burmester in my 991 sounded really good (for a car system) and I enjoyed listening to music on it whilst on the daily grind. And I say this as someone who has been into AV/HiFi for decades and has what many would consider a high end system at home.
Burmester was between £2,000 and £2,600 for the 992.1 depending on model year. Remember it's the incremental cost as Bose was standard on the Turbo range

Yep, that makes sense, couldn’t recall whether Bose was standard.
I have a 2023 turbo (non-s), which has just turned 40k miles, Porsche finance settlement figure is approx 100k - so might be worth me keeping.
I’m torn as to replacing with a 992.1 gt3 touring, or just wait for the new 992.2 turbo s for which I have a deposit sitting on pending a slot.
Burmeister is ok - sounds tinny eg too much treble for my liking but I am listening to Spotify on car play

That's interesting.
I recall my Burmester (991.1) had an exemplary bass response and didn't sound tinny at all. Have you tried adjusting the settings to get it to your taste?
Auditory memories/recall are notoriously poor but I'm pretty sure the Burmester in my 991 sounded better than the Burmester in my AMG MB and the B and W system in my current M5
Settings don’t help unfortunately- it’s pretty limited scope for adjustment - I’ve given up as the tyre noise takes over
I loved the b&w in my m5 competition- was sublime
I think I’m getting old and my ears are paying for years of abuse in my younger years
To the OP would you consider a non s turbo? Does 99% of the S and doesn’t come with the centre locks

I think the B and W in my M5 does sound good but I remember the 991 Burmester sounding better...or perhaps my ears are also suffering after years of abuse!
The non S Turbo would be more than enough for me in terms of power but in many ways it doesn't make sense. Firstly there are a lot less to choose from, I don't know the exact stats but a lot more S were produced than non S.
Then the non S doesn't have ceramic brakes, I did enjoy those in my previous car especially the lack of brake dust (I always wash my cars myself)
There are probably some other things that are standard in the S vs the non S.
The other car I'm considering is the 992.2 carrera 4GTS hybrid. I'd be looking at a circa one year old car.
If I set a hard limit of £150k I'll get either a 21/22 Turbo S or a max 12 month old GTS (both being highly specced)
I'm trying to figure out which one of the two will depreciate the most....
Thanks

Extending the warranty ( it had about 7 months on it when I bought it ) cost £2850 for 3 years which I thought was a bargain

Yes, for a car like that it's a no brainer.
I might be wrong but perhaps buying from an OPC means they will cover stuff that might not strictly speaking be covered by the extended warranty.
My 911 had a rattly sunroof, it was completely functional but the rattle was annoying. I don't think this sort of thing is covered by the extended warranty but they took it in multiple times, diagnosed it and fixed it.
Maybe. Depends on the cost premium.
I spend several days sound proofing it and removing literally all of the many many rattles which the car seems famous for !

I also can't tolerate rattles, especially when you pay these sorts of amounts for a car. My M5 takes the piss, when there is a temperature change parts of the decorative trim on the dash expand/contract and make a cracking sound. BMW refused to do anything about it....and I just didn't have time to fight it.
Porsche actually worked quite hard to find the source of the rattle and did resolve it (just one location, the sunroof)
I have sworn that going forward I will do a road test specifically for rattles and reject a car that has them. Or reduce the price to allow funds to pay someone to rectify them. I don't have the confidence to do it myself as I am pretty cack handed.
Thanks for the link, I'll use that should the situation arise
Rather than starting another thread and spamming the forum I thought I would ask this question here.
I am considering a 992.1 TS vs 992.2 Carrera4 GTS. This question is purely about depreciation, not the other comparable merits of the two cars.
For about the same money (£150k for the TS and maybe £140ish for the GTS) I can get either a circa 2021/22 TS or a max 12 month old GTS, it could even be new stock car.
With the GTS I'd be looking for 10% off a new stock car and a 12 month old example would be approx 20% off.
(There are cheaper cars out there but I'm looking for a high specced example)
Which of the two examples would depreciate the most?
Thanks

In my view the 992.1 TS would be the sounder purchase. Both are absolutely great cars but I feel that, in terms of depreciation, the Turbo S would be the winner
I had exactly the same issue. I could have bought a year old gts for the same money as a 3 and a bit year old Turbo s.
I chose the turbo s as ....
1. I had a base 911 cab that I rejected. Engine mount issues they could not solve.
2. They lent me 3 x turbo s for 6 months whist they tried to fix it. I was addicted.
3. The gts is a firmer ride and nearly all have alcantara which I really don't like. I prefer dead cows.
4. The turbo s is frankly and astonishing car. I see articles on this Ferrari, that Lamborghini and its astonishing performance. Errr. It is thd same performance as the turbo s I have in the garage.
I drove today a lotus emira. " quick " sort of at 0-60 4.5 seconds. It honestly was slow and underwhelming. Performance matters. Can you use it ? No of course not but the acceleration is huge fun.
It is a tricky call. The turbo s is the top of the line and does seem to hold its value. Will it continue? I suspect the answer is yes given the continual and significant increases in the new cars which are now competing with Ferrari etc which I don't want to own as I can't do with the trauma - but they are generally more exciting cars to look at

I had a 991.1 TTS and it was an amazing car. But even though that was ?50 BHP down on the 992 it could be extremely frustrating ie slam the throttle and within a few seconds you are at crazy speeds and you have to back off. So you couldn't often enjoy the capabilities of the car for all but a few fleeting seconds. (The 992 will be that and some more).
On the other hand in comfort type settings it was an amazingly comfortable cruiser, it did so many things well. And it looks like an absolute beast.
I just wonder whether a GTS with the extended rev range and less power will allow me to actually enjoy the acceleration more. A standard carrera is definitely out, I need more power than that....so that leaves the GTS Hybrid or TTS.
I haven't driven a GTS in yonks, I think I drove the 991.1 GTS and as you say the suspension is pretty stiff, nowhere near as everyday friendly as the TTS. I have no idea if the latest GTS rides more softly.
And I completely agree with you on the interior. I hate the GTS 'special' trim with Alacantara and red stitching, I think it looks cheap and tacky, but there are cars out there specced with leather.
I also happen to hate black wheels, so I don't really like the GTS look at all
I would need a car with leather and silver wheels.
I will drive both cars later, first I need to figure out for sure which will have the better depreciation, that will play a big part in which way I go.
Thanks for your input

The other thing I forgot to mention is I find the spoiler on the non turbo cars to be just wrong and I like the side intakes.
Are we related or something??
I also can't stand the retractable spoiler on the 992. If I bought a GTS it would have to have the aerokit installed. It doesn't look anywhere as good as the Turbo aerokit but at least it does away with the retractable spoiler and makes the car look more aggressive.

My Turbo S doesn't have centre locks, which I am very glad about. I spend a fair amount of time in the Highlands, and don't want to be 100% reliant on Porsche assist and transport to OPC Perth just because of a puncture.
Re the Burmester vs B&W comparison, I have B&W in my X5 and think the Burmester in the 911 sounds better.
I have been to the Porsche experience centre in a turbo s a decent number of times I has a turbo last time not the s. I could not tell the difference other than the very beginning of brake fade after quite while pushing it really hard which you would never replicate on the road.
I have a torque multiplier and torque wrench in the front so If I have a puncture I can get the wheel off as no one has the kit. I have had the wheels off many times and had my tyre replacement done at home as the local garage didn't have it either.
They are really easy to take off but I do feel Porsche should give you the kit with the car ! It cost about £400 from memory including the guide bar to stop you hitting the ceramics ( Ali express ).

Just wondering how you don't have centre locks, was there a turbo S wheel option that isn't centre lock - I ask as I have a GT3 and one of the only things that's an irritation, is centre lock. I have someone swap my Cup 2's for PS4s each season and to do it myself, maybe on a separate set of wheels would be easier.
Or I may need to look at the kit mentioned by other people....

Yes, I'm fairly sure you could downgrade the centre lock S wheels to the standard 5 nut Turbo wheels. In the same way you could / still can downgrade the GTS wheels to Carrera 5 nuts. That flexibility was never an option on the GT3

Do you use a stand for the reaction bar, or just let it hang down and touch the ground?
Just make sure the multiplier fits the torque wrench. The one I bought was the same but I can't find the actual listing.
You also need a small block of wood in the boot to spread the load of the multiplier handle which will otherwise remove a chunk of your garage floor.
And finally a tube of Castrol Optimol Paste TA High Temperature Hot Screw Paste Anti-Seize 100g Tube
Don't get it on anything. It does not come off and spreads forever.
I clean off the old grease with isopropyl alcohol
