Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My father in law lives in rural Idaho and doesn't have access to key cut services so he fedex me the key and I had a copy made today. However the copy doesn't match and I'm not able to try without FedEx back and forth. The locksmith said the key is the same except near the base and might still work. He also said he didn't have a 2002 911 as an option for his key machine so had but in 2004. Anyone have any knowledge on the key cuts and know if his statement about it working is true? Or should I order another blank and recut? Pics attached for reference. The new key has the red circle. Thanks, Darron

POST 2Original post

I'm constantly amazed at what PT3 knows. Nice to have folks like him around who not only know, but also willing to share.

I don't mean to be one of those guys, but you may want to remove the key photos. Someone can use the photos and pretty easily get a key made from the picture.

POST 7Original post

Just an FYSA, I sent pictures of my key to "Keys In The Post" and, with the exception of the Royal Mail hacking debacle, which prolonged the shipping and receipt of my new key blades, when I did get the blades, they worked great. And the cost was only $45+- for two cut blades, shipped.
