The Weiss Gold looks great, Chris at Exel wheels did mine, it's quite a subtle colour in most light conditions, looks a bit gangsta in bright sunlight when it's very clean, luckily that combination of conditions happens about twice a year!

Worth a try at £100K – 997.2 GT3 RS is there or there abouts and from the limited description it sounds like it might attract some significant interest…

POST 3Original post

Doubt it's better than mine, it's got 14k on it but totally as new and only 1 previous owner for 5 years.

POST 4Original post

goldsbd said: Doubt it's better than mine, it's got 14k on it but totally as new and only 1 previous owner for 5 years. Hmmmm, only one way to solve this. I should drive both and make the judgment. ;-)

POST 5Original post

Once again!! can we have some pictures please!

POST 7Original post

85k tops for Gt2 imo. As some one has offered 90k without seeing it I would bite his hand off.

POST 8Original post

jonny finance said: Trust me - unless you have another one with delivery miles or driven your 14k in your living room !! Looks great, I assume that its delivery mileage then?? Just wondering though, the trailer in the background.... Is that how it gets around and keeps the mileage low... Needs to be driven! Here's mine, still as new and very carefully driven and maintained by previous owner.

POST 9Original post

Both look awesome, although I especially like a white car with black wheels with the white sections: * Sat in California looking out at the blue sky, I will be back in the UK in a few weeks and I can imagine that weather will be rather different. Definitely not ideal for a GT2 anyway. Image shamelessly stolen from JZM.

POST 15Original post

Yes, we want to see this ultimate 997 GT2! I have been looking for a GT2 for a few weeks and there are not many around, but then again its winter and its not typically the best time to sell supercars. I would like to help you out by taking the car off your hands, but the low mileage is more of a disadvantage rather than advantage for me. It would not be a garage queen in my house, I want to drive the thing! Is it PCM2.5 or 3.0, the iPod connection is handy on long road trips. Either way, I would like to start the bidding by offering 80k for the car! Updated offer after additional evidence has emerged. Edited by redback911 on Wednesday 30th October 23:04

POST 17Original post

It surprises me that the wheels are painted and not polished (silver bits). I guess if they were polished it would be hard to tell it apart from the 996 gt3RS

POST 18Original post

Beautiful - Love the red wheels and decals. Does the red theme follow on inside? I have course red stitching in mine, throughout the dash, seats and doors and I think that would look amazing on yours jonny finance said: Edited by jonny finance on Wednesday 30th October 22:24

Anyway I always feel mine is an RS re handling - except - some mad fool strapped two rockets on the engine.. They are pretty mean looking muthas - I've not had one person give me any grief on the road in this car, had loads in other cars, nobody wants to mess with Darth Vader's car. For the record I reckon the white/red combo is superb, just ask what you want for the car, they're not making any more of these and it seems pretty obvious that good ones aren't easy to find, don't regret selling it though!

White / red stickers / red rims with white edge - just looks a bit Halfords IMO...

POST 23Original post

I agree the red stickers and red rims don't look great on the GT2 imo.

Maybe a Gold tooth and purple heat with a big peacock feather sticking out of it. ;-) I did consider a black left-hand drive GT2 from Germany. Loved the black/orange color combo, really nice spec: http://www.autosalon-singen.de/en/fahrzeug24930047... Wife crushed my dreams by pointing out she would rather not drive a left-hand. 911Bianca said: Maybe a tad bullish but me thinks I have the lowest mileage best condition one around and with maybe a 'swap' on the cards in the v near future wondering what £££ could/should be achieved?? Genuine club sport (white) 3500 miles from new 2 years OPC warranty/assist - perfect factory original totally as new. With ref to condition and low low miles not sure what could be expected. Appreciate it's worth what someone will pay etc etc but as there seem to be lots of GT2 threads of late - here's another...over 100k??? As you say it's worth what someone will pay for it, I've put my 996 GT2 up for sale and it's been discussed in length due to the £85k asking price. I have had a few calls but nothing serious, if it does go then I have the difficult process of trying to replace it with something else. Photos of car here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93520035@N03/sets/721... They aren't making them anymore 996 or 997 variants, they are rare cars and lots, as prospective buyers are finding out aren't straight, (mileage corrections and replacement panels/engines etc). If someone really wants a GT2 then they have a limited selection on offer, then discard the cars with "history" and it's an even smaller selection. 996RS seem to be the same and some of those have sold for high 70's recently from what is discussed on here. The GT2 cost approx £120+ (996) and £140+ (997) when new, so to the right person you car could be worth over £100k. Only one way to find out though and that's to stick it on the classifieds, good luck if you decide to sell.

The 996GT2 in no ugly duckling! Edited by unclepezza on Friday 1st November 16:21

POST 31Original post

To the OP, if low mileage 996 GT2's are genuinely going for 85k, then your beauty has to be 100+. It just has to be. And if nobody will pay that at the min, then just sit tight for a few years and people will be kicking themselves that they didn't rip your arm off at 100k or whatever. Not to everyone's taste, but I always liked this one...

Perfect colour combo. Really sets the car off. Haven't bought anything. There seems to be limited good cars come available and I've been fussy on spec - I have relaxed the prefect spec idea a little now. Toying the idea of a GT3 as well to keep me entertained (in a different way of course).

POST 33Original post

Funny isn't it, after a over a year of reading these forums, is all been GT3 or GT3 RS and virtually no GT2 stuff compared to everything else, suddenly there's 3 threads running, it's almost feels like people have woken up to the car at last and since Porsche are no longer doing a manual GT2 especially with a Mezger there will be a flurry of activity over the coming months and year to acquire these cars, with only 50 or so in the UKnd the obvious abused examples the available figure is going to be much less, some are already in collections, excluding the Grey one and the Red one, both with alleged dubious histories, the few good ones only appear to appear in 1s or possibly 2 at a time and then appear to disappear quite quickly, I haven't seen a good one stick around for long in the ads.. I'll be keeping mine for sometime I reckon as there is simply no other car that I can imagine can replace it!

drmark said: Yours gets my vote. Sweet. Thanks drmark, I like the understated nature of it, and purity of it, less is more sometimes! The Carrera White gives it a slightly warm glow, where Arctic White type colours always look a bit cold, maybe that type of colour needs additional decals to soften it up a little? I've never been one for sticking go faster stripes on cars, especially when there are enough visually arresting features as found on these cars. Saying all that, I think the paint job on this looks fantastic and have seen a pic of a GT2 painted up like this, don't want the Michelin bit on the front though, I've had a rough quote from an expert painter friend who does this kind of work for around £5k, not sure how it would affect the value of the car though so unlikely to happen in reality! Limits any future buyers somewhat.. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7251/7414633332_5fcd... Edited by goldsbd on Sunday 3rd November 08:41 I am increasingly looking to buy a German car, just waiting on the dealer of this one to provide some more info: http://goo.gl/ay28xz There are over 30 997 GT2s for sale on the continent, the cheapest is 57,000 GBP the more expensive are heavily modified (list of 200k) and are no more than 100k GBP. Personally I cannot see the prices being asked for UK 996 and 997 GT2s reaching those heady heights, but best of luck anyway. The 996/997 GT2 is not an icon, as the 993 GT2 was. I am not being critical of the GT2, I want one, but they are not going to be the same in the same league as other car speculations, and they are certainly not "investments".

POST 45Original post

I would say that it depends upon the price and specification of the new GT2. If manual, mezger, five stud wheels, driver de-selectable aids, --- if these things are important, AND the new car is going to be North of £160k, why wouldn't the best of the last be worth £100k ? Buy it and at 10,000 miles and two years later it may be worth £85k ? The new one will definitely not be worth more than £110k after the same time and mileage. So, you can choose to go for the "classic" and maybe lose as much as £15k, or go for the New and maybe lose as little as £50k ... ? Will the new car really ever benefit from being the first GT2 ever to have rear-wheel steering ? Everybody hopes that the new DI engine will lay to rest the demons of the first water cooled engines. But the mezger has already done it, and is now gone. If you think this argument is persuasive, it should be. I bought the best 997 GT2 in the UK, and am embarrassed at how low the mileage still is ....

I bought the best 997 GT2 in the UK, and am embarrassed at how low the mileage still is .... Actually I own the best 997 GT2 in the UK, one owner, totally pampered Seriously though I agree with all you say above, In a few years to come when these A91 turbo engines start to get older with more mileage we shall see just how stout they are and my guess is since they are built to a price future owners will suffer. In contrast Mezgers will go on forever with simple rebuilds keeping them fresh... The 997 GT2 may not have the iconic racing history of the first GT2 but it is a rarer car than the Carerra GT and it is the last Mezger engined manual geared rear wheel drive turbo 911 with the very latest and best chassis of the 997 series.... sounds like the ingredients of an icon to me Edited by TB993tt on Thursday 7th November 13:37
