Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm at a complete loss of what to do in trying to replace the after market Kenwood with the original CDR-210. I've spent hours looking at prior posts, wiring diagrams images, and pelican parts comprehensive list of color coded wires. The wiring hardness in my 996 (maybe because it's an early build?) doesn't doesn't match up, and there are some odd connections that I can not figure out. I have the HIFI 490 option. I have looked at the wire bundle in the Nokla and it seems to match the Yellow connector but the wires at the console side do not. Here are the wire colors in a full chart: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...stallation.htm And here is what my harness is from the console side: Twisted pairs from the original wrapped bundle: Yellow+Brown => Right Rear - Yellow+Red => Right Rear + Green+Brown => Left Rear - Green+Red => Lear Rear + But according the everything I've found, the Yellow+Brown is the L Front - (on the Brown Connector for Head unit to speaker, non-amp setup) And the Yellow+Red is Left Rear LINE out + (Yellow connector line out to amp) So this totally doesn't match what I have. Then, there is this odd black shrink wrapping around five wires (two of which are cut), The common audio ground (brown/blue), to a violet/brown wire (non-existent in diagrams), to a green/brown and yellow/brown. It's pretty much impossible to try and explain this... But there is one more wire than there should be from the factory harness (violet/brown). And I have no idea what to do. The fronts were wired directly to the Kenwood with standard speaker wire. The Dash speakers were disconnected entirely, and the tweeters wired in. I really want the CDR-210 for aesthetic purposes, and the Kenwood after market speakers are fine, but I am at a total 100% loss of what to do now. I've spent days and days trying to track wires, and find info online, and all I've accomplished is removing the Sat Radio and a usb cable.. Here's a pic, note the yellow and green twisted pairs, the phantom violet/brown - and the odd splicing of 5 wires: Sorry for posting second thread but the prior was far too many questions.
