Hello Planet-9, new member here posting a picture of my 1st Porsche:
Welcome! I would love to hear more about your car! It looks great.
That is one tidy garage....you do weekend surgery in there? :hilarious:
Love the car and welcome!
The stereo receiver in the back grounds looks like an interesting piece of work. :hilarious:
Nice car. More pics and details!!!
Thanks guys, here's a pic of the kind of surgery I do daily:
Great looking Boxster. What year? I have an '03 Boxster in Lapis Blue Mettalic.
This is a 2000 S, carefully chosen after serving 2.5 years (2000-2002) as Porsche press fleet manager & test driver. I wanted a car with a minimum of options & prefered the manual hood & trunk release & guage setup in the 2000 plus no PSM. I am currently looking for a 03-04 Lapis blue with black interior preferably in need of a engine rebuild.
Chassis Dyno Test of rebuilt engine
Whats been done to the engine to get near on 200kwatw? Thats an increase of about 45kw (depending on what the dyno reads for a stock car).
Welcome to the site. My first Porsche was a 2000 Boxster S in speed yellow and like you I preferred the old manual style to things. It was a fun car and still resides in Seattle with its current owner today, hmmm maybe I should buy it back.
I was able to get similar power out of mine by adding headers and modifying the sports exhaust and adding a de-snork and filter combo. My car was pretty well optioned though, had the speed yellow stitching on seats, dash and door.... I miss that...
My 2003 Boxster S has had the following:
Re-tune, Full FVD exhaust (headers, cats, etc) and EVOMS intake.
Before and after dyno show an increase of 15kw (20hp) at the wheels.
From 153kwatw to 168kwatw.
I think dyno's over hear might read a bit lower, and they all vary, so for a more accurate comparison, what was your increase?
Power wise the only change from oem parts on this original engine is the 99mm billet cylinder sleeves with JE pistons. This increases displacement to 3.6 litres & matches the 2002 996 3.6 rating of 273 ft/lbs torque at the crank if you use a 12% powertrain loss figure which is minimium for a 986 manual. This indicates 300+ HP in a 986 chassis with it's more restrictive oem exhaust & intake system & DME tune. :burnout:
Care to share the brand etc of these amazing headers?
That sounds about right for peak HP.
I believe most street driven Porsches weakest link is low rpm torque & there really is no replacement for displacement! :burnout:
