Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess there is no need to present the usual syndrome of the low/weak battery when you do not use your car every day. I was thinking about installing a permanent set of wires connected to the battery and install a cigarette lighter type plug into one of the cooling openings under the headlight to easily plug in my charger without having to open the lid or leave a door/window ajar. What solution do you use to keep your car fully charged and ready to go in a jiffy? Thanks Yves

On my 996, i use a "Battery Tender" (about $50 3 years ago) it came with a whip intended to connect to the battery and a mating plug with cap to connect to the cord from the tender. It is really easy to put the tender on it this way. I usually connect it at least once a month since the car is usually driven pretty often. It definitely helps. The Porsche battery maintainer looks a lot like the Ctek product and connect via the cigarette lighter socket, which would seem to be even easier. I have seen the dealer close the door on the wire as it is pretty thin and it seems the door seals do not harm it. Not sure of the cost for this item.
