Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Another factor that influences colour choices is the 'launch' colours used by the manufacturer.
Leading evidence: 'Use by the manufacturer' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use by the manufacturer' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have seen few pictures apart from the Speed Yellow and Guards Red press shots.
Funnily enough, when I put down my deposit today, was talking colours with my dealer. He thinks Guards Red will make a comeback.
We also talked about Speed Yellow. His view was that looks great - but not good for resale. I wonder how adverse an imapct it would make. Any thoughts?

If you notice the cars that allways sell well are the ones in the sales brochures, 997 is guards and speed yellow .
I looked for ages for a white 996, settled for a guards red one in the end, interestingly white was / is about 5k less than other colours, and guards was not to popular either so the dealers will tell you, till you come to buy one then there very sought after sir !!!
When you look in a car park these days it is a sea of silver. Colour makes it look so much brighter and more interesting. My 996 is speed yellow and whilst some times you don't want to be noticed it really does make me feel happy driving it (I assume that is the colour that has that effect!) However I think Guards Red would be my choice on a 997 - it makes the car stand out and lets face it if you didn't want to be noticed you wouldn't buy a 997 would you?
I have just looked at swapping vehicles and all the stealer has gone on about is colour, whilst I accept that Green is not a colour lots would go for,(I think it looks great and different from the norm) they don't seem interested in any colours other than Black and Silver.
I have used the car and so did the previous owner hence high mileage, I have done 10K this year and but have lost quite a lot of value mainly due to colour!! and as was pointed out earlier, when I purchased the car it was on the forecourt for the same price as others because of the limited colour!! Just business is the final answer.[

The new brochure shows nine neutrals (black white, silver/grey) and eight 'colours'. So that shows the strength of the low key 'neutrals'.
Silvers and greys have always been a popular and attractive finish on Porsches - from the early 1950s 356s through to the present day. For many of the classic models, it is the most desirable finish, and it is Germany's traditional racing 'colour'.
Granted, it has been rather overdone in recent years, but it is attractive and easy to keep looking clean.
Another factor that influences colour choices is the 'launch' colours used by the manufacturer. Guards Red seems to have been chosen for the 997, mainly because it is photogenic and differentiates from the 996, of which very few are seen in red.
Time will tell if fashions change.
Adrian,
I do like Polar. Not sure if available for 997 though.
If I lived in California would buy white.
Once saw a C4S in Milan on a sunny spring morning and it looked perfect.
You are right - colour very dependent on environment.
