Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Ive been looking round the various Reg. Plate dealers and auctions etc. For a attractive number plate containing 911 numbers. All commanding a high premium with possibly the exception of Northern Irish plates but then you have Z or I in the letters. Are they worth buying or is it worth paying the extra for the plates issued here , which will possibly hold or increase their value more.
Unless you’re spending many thousands a numberplate isn’t going to appreciate.
If you want one, just buy something you like, that means something to you.
Car specific plates are especially try hard - more so 10 years down the line when someone has their M3 or V8 plate with their initials on a diesel A3.
They are sometimes called 'personal' plates, because they are personal to the owner, as opposed to something random issued by DVLA.
However, like most things, some are tasteful and can look good (but usually expensive), and some look naff and tacky, especially if the letters or numbers have been modified, (usually the cheaper ones).
As said above, whilst the best ones are expensive, they have proved a good investment. The cheaper ones are just a bit of fun.

I went slightly mad and bought a plate on a speculative basis last week - MR51PUT (MRS 1 PUT for the golfers out there). Anyone got any thoughts about the best place to try and sell it? E bay and Collecting Cars were my first thoughts, but any other ideas gratefully received.
Thanks!
I just bought
60 DDY for my GT4
I was thinking it looked similar to to GO DADDY
Buy you can get a nice Gt04 with 3 letters for really cheap money
My own thoughts go for a plate you like

Thanks. I am aware of good plates & crap plates. I have dealt with plates on & off for years. I own probably 5. Three of which are for sale with agencies. My question was really aimed at N.I. Plates.

I bought GT04 and then my initials for the bargain price of £250. I like it. And it has none car types thinking it was registered in 2004

But I’m obviously slightly biased. :-)
You’re absolutely right by the way. I already have plates.. it’s a 911 plate in particular I want. You can get a N.I. Plate for £1K if you’re quick of the Mark when the DVLA auctions them off but they are a bit sh!tty with Z’s & I’s etc. I have been bidding on 5 911 plates in the auction today but the prices were high. I’ve seen one at a dealers that is more reasonably priced. I’m just concerned nobody wants the N.I. Plates if you wanted to sell in the future.. unlike the plates issued here. The online auctions are fetching higher prices than the normal auctions that have attended on many occasion. PS. ... nice 996 GT2 Unusual colour. 18 years young & stunning.
I'm not sure what's wrong with the letter 'I' in a plate? Even 'Z' doesn't bother me. Then again I'm from NI and used to it. We did have *IG and *IL as plates here, so BIG 911 and DIG 911 were available and loads of companies bought OIL *****.
MBZ 911 would make sense if your nom de plume is reflective of your real name.
I think any plate you have to alter or explain is a bit naff.

I quite agree with the altering of a plate. If you have to alter a plate for it to make any sense, then I would not buy it. The point is, the Irish plates seem a lot less desirable over here. It can only be because of the Z & I if you were to compare prices. The Irish 911 plates come up for sale with DVLA for bout £1000. But they soon go. I will be quicker off the Mark next time! I tried to buy LIL 911 from regtransfers (£3K) but they rung me back & said the owner had decided not to sell! FFS.

One of my school mates owns this combo, I'm fairly sure he paid under £1000 for it.
Yes, I Would imagine less than £1000. I sold PO55 RCH earlier this year for £800. I am specifically wanting either 911 - - - or - - - 911. I fully understand the value of plates & what are decent & what are meaningless to nobody but the owner.

I have a V8 plate on my M3, so I think I can claim a full house here?
My name rather than my initials though.
Been on the M3 since 2009, not expected to be on either a diesel or an A3 anytime soon

To the OP - buy the plate if you like it and can justify the money.
I still regret not buying 911 HUH when I saw it advertised a couple of years ago for £1,500. I didn't have a 911 at the time but it would have been a fair investment. I have 990 FPP if Porsche ever decides to go that way with their model numbers.

Nice car nothing plate. What does it mean are they his initials?
My dads friend had THE 911 in the 80's - he sold the plate late 80's iirc for an eye watering sum (back then) I seem to recall it went on a speedster in Scotland but might well have moved on by now
Great plate! Will be worth a lot of money. Could well be 5 £figures. I have a single number 3 letter plate on my car at the moment but just fancy a 911 plate.

Think Glenvarigill used to own that plate. They also had a couple of others which I was told they sold to Porsche Cars UK cars when they sold the business.

This was my old plate. Sold now along with the car but I thought it looked pretty good.
That looks like a ‘keeper’ combination to me, can’t think how you could improve.

I don’t see anything wrong or naff about a 911 plate...... it just looks neater imho than having a full 7 digit plate.
I purchased 911 US privately several years back and don’t regret buying it.....
Have a couple of posts Regarding 911 US been removed or am I tired?

Private plates are a waste of money. Mind you, so are Porsches.
I will give you the price it cost back in the day, if they are such a waste of money.

Do we need to draw attention to how someone spends their money in this way? I know MHH published the photo and the prices are in the public domain, nevertheless I find it a bit crass to do this.
A very good friend of mine purchased 911 MH from the DVLA auction in 2001 (The price shown in the photo). So i have no idea what MHH paid for it. I don’t particularly want to either. However you can jump to your conclusions if you want.

"THE 911" used to frequent some super car days at Knock hill back in the 90's. Scotland does have 911 GT on a 911 GT , i have old photos lurking somewhere from back then.

I deleted my post because I had second thoughts. However, as you have preserved it by quoting it - I'm not jumping to conclusions - I gave an opinion on googling someone else's purchases and commenting on how much they have spent with a shocked face emoji. Then I thought better of it and deleted it, as it's none of my business.
Good luck with finding a plate that suits your needs.

Thankyou, I will keep looking (no rush) Pete. Don’t think I will have offended anyone on here. It’s a bit of a platform for the wealthy folk to display their toys don’t you think. I wish I could afford one of the 911’s I see on here. Fortunately I’m content being healthy & Covid free. (Had it actually)
One thing I love about being here in Aus is that you can have any personal plate you like as long as it's available. Of course that means 911 or Porsche are long gone but can still get some fitting ones if it's your thing. If you can find the right one, I Reckon do it

Absolutely. Is that your car?

The yellow is (plate is now on the 981 though) and the red is actually one I'm selling for a client at the moment
No reserve on HOT 911 plate on Collecting cars looking like it could be a good buy for someone. 993 X plate is making top money.

Been watching HOT911V as I have a very similar plate on my 911. Currently at 4.2k with a day and a half to go. Won't be selling mine but interesting seeing what it could fetch
