Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Anyone have experience removing the interior regular rear view mirror? Mine is getting delaminated and distorted around the edges? Any advice would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Easy to do. Grab a pair of channel lock pliers and wrap protection around the jaws so you don't scratch the mirror base. Turn 90 degrees CCW and it will pull off. This is how to do it on a 996 but it's the same for 987. Rearview mirror removal

POST 4Original post

If you are looking to have it refurbished, I recommend radar-mirror.com. I used them for my “melting” mirror on my E46 M3 and it was great - was about $120 all-in and back to me in about a week. Bought a cheap suction cup mirror off Amazon for the time being.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for the lead, I will check them out. Much appreciated.

POST 6Original post

My cars mirror the same, trying to find out if just the glass can be replaced.

POST 7Original post

If you don't have a self-dimming mirror, particularly on a Boxster - I'd highly recommend buying one for less than $100 from Amazon , and installing it. The stock flip-type mirror is basically an annoying POS in a Boxster at night with the top down. When you flip it, you're no longer getting blinded by cars behind you - you get blinded by every street light you drive under. That mirror probably works great in a Cayman , it sucks in a Boxster . Somewhere here I posted about buying and installing one - grand sum of about $120 (mirror and adaptors for the mount), and it's a great improvement over the POS Porsche put in the cars.
