Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am close to pulling the trigger on a 2005 Cab and was wondering if a hardtop from a 996 model will work? I can buy a like new older one for $250. Thanks in advance for any help. I am a total newbie.

POST 2Original post

Yes it will. Lot's of posts on the subject that you need to read before you attempt it though. You can even google it and get a step by step how to on the process. I added a 996 top to my 997 sometime ago and posted the instructions on this site back in Jan or Feb or '08. There is also a post with my instructions that someone added pics to, making it a good deal easier to understand what's involved. If your not mechanically inclinded I'd solicate help from someone how is as the dealer will charge you far more than it's worth to retrofit the top.

POST 4Original post
