The brake light is out but the parker is on, change the bulb a cheap fix but I decided to extend myself a little and ordered some Dectane Led's.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a seach on Dectane and no results so... I have smoked tails currently however there is moisture in one and a visible hairline crack that must be the cause. The brake light is out but the parker is on, change the bulb a cheap fix but I decided to extend myself a little and ordered some Dectane Led's. I usually dont like to update look's but this has grown on me over the past couple of weeks of googling. Will post pic's when they arrive and install etc - the depo and dectane apprently are complete plug and play and high quaility, the other led's (about ($450) on the market are minus the parkers and reverse bulbs with a lead that will blow a fuse if you connect it (on US forums what to and not to connect).  For the Dectane's - the cheapest inclusive of ordering from Dectane themselves are these guys - http://www.pitlane.bg/en/lighting/dectane-led-tail-lights-porsche-911-996-97-06-red-crystal-p45996 which is a good $500- 600 save.  (Paypal tells me it was approx $620 total / inclusive delivery)

POST 2Original post

Definitely post some pics when you get it done, im not a fan too 997 for a 996 but they do look good.

POST 3Original post

i also want to upgrade my tail lights to LED ones... but i dont like the 997 look.. i went on there site and they dont have normal with led or slightly smoked... i found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CARRERA-996-98-04-LED-TAIL-LIGHT-Red-Clear-for-PORSCHE-/332203391153?hash=item4d58dd78b1:g:C5UAAOSw7GRZCIZw not sure of the quality tbh.

These are the ones that use the existing reverse lights, need resistors and have confusing leads that blow the fuses. I originally went to purchase, then with some research decided to look at other "brands /suppliers etc. https://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/41395-has-anyone-added-the-new-led-rear-tail-lights-to-996/ https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/873719-996-led-tail-light-causing-multiple-issues-blown-fuse.html

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok - these guys cancelled my order http://www.pitlane.bg/en/lighting/dectane-led-tail-lights-porsche-911-996-97-06-red-crystal-p45996 as they said out of stock and wouldnt be until late July. I responded that I would wait but they refunded anyway - too cheap perhaps...I have spend a couple of hundred more and purchased from car wear in Melbourne. Ho hum...
