Suggestion

I was able to pull the pieces apart more than just the 4mm or so that they separated and see that they're definitely two pieces of plastic (the top silver plastic is Polycarbonate and the grey plastic that clips to the car is ABS - I had to repair the side clips because it's pretty much impossible to get that trim out without doing damage it seems.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey friends, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the plastic pieces (grey underside and silver top piece) separating? I'm referring to the silver trim in the trunk between the strut towers. I thought my carpet wasn't lined up properly and I could see the grey plastic showing on one side at the rear of the trim. It hasn't fully separated but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else and how they repaired it? I was able to pull the pieces apart more than just the 4mm or so that they separated and see that they're definitely two pieces of plastic (the top silver plastic is Polycarbonate and the grey plastic that clips to the car is ABS - I had to repair the side clips because it's pretty much impossible to get that trim out without doing damage it seems. Part number of the trim is 98755515100

That piece gets beat up from items being stowed in the trunk. Yours may have been damaged from someone trying to remove it. I would just buy a new one.

POST 3Original post

The access door for oil and water on my Cayman disassembled itself. It was held together with what looked like a hot glue or such so I applied the same and it is good to go.
