Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'm mad as heck - Porsche won't accept my order for 3 options shown on the order guide. They are the rear center consoleand the dash trim strips painted in the exterior color and the rear luggage partition. How can they not supply a center console painted in Arctic silver???? What's the point in issuing an order guide and then saying you can't have some of the options??

POST 2Original post

Brian, I can sympathize with you, but I may have good news shortly. I've been talking to Eric of Bumper Plugs about some other matters and I'm going to see if he can put together some interior work for the Cayman as a special offer for Cayman Club members. I saw he responded to your post on PPBB, but maybe he'll jump in here as well once we've fleshed things out. I specifically didn't choose any interior parts painted exterior color because I knew Eric could do it for less, especially that PCM surround piece that Porsche wants an arm and a leg for...

POST 3Original post

Brian, i am with you. Porsche did not accept two of the options i requested. They refused the Porsche crest in headrest and the metal door sill model insignia. Fortunately mine were no biggies, but I do like the crests in the headrests. The same thing happened when I ordered my Cayenne S. Just their way of doing things.

POST 5Original post

Did anyone notice that there are 2 door sills now? Regular and LIGHTED! Which one was it that they didn't accept? Since the lighted is new, I have a hunch it is that one.

POST 6Original post

K Man S, it was not the lighted one, but the one Porsche has offered for years. The same one I had on my 1999 911 . When I ordered my Cayenne and was unable to get a couple of options I was told by my dealer that Porsche uses just in time parts ordering and if they do not have a part for an option when your car is ordered or being built they simply say you cannot have that option. In any event, I have had this happen on both vehicles I recently ordered from Porsche.

POST 7Original post

Those 'just-in-time' parts I can understand......don't like it, but at least I know where their coming from. What I can't understand is things like..... Crests in headrests. Insignia painted exterior color. Center console painted exterior color. I mean these are items that Porsche should be able to handle.......the seats are most likely the same as the Boxster , they have to have consoles already on hand.....same thing with insignias......just don't get it sometimes.

POST 8Original post

My order did accept the trim strip in ext colorCDM, along with CDN,CDP,CET,and CDJ. I was not able to get the sport seat backs inexterior color (XSA).
