Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My Wife opened the car and shut it every 3 days which we thought might reset the alarm.

When the car is in sleep mode, just put key in door, turn left, then that wakes it up and you can use the keyfob to open it - no hack needed
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I have been away for nearly 2 weeks and was worried about the alarm going into sleep mode. My Wife opened the car and shut it every 3 days which we thought might reset the alarm. I got back from my trip, the doors opened fine and the car fired up no problem. The battery is a 2 year old Varta but I was pleasantly surprised!
All the best,
Phil.
Not exactly a hack your wife just woke the car every three days preventing it going into sleep mode.
However good solution if you have a willing wife.

Why wouldnt you want it going into sleep mode, it's designed to do that to save the battery?
I didnt know you could turn the key to the left prior to openeing to stop the alarm going off when you open with the key. I ahev always unlocked then turned ignition on within few seconds and this stops the alarm from sounding.

As the title says, can sleep mode be disabled or just prevent the central locking from sleeping?

I'm sure there's a difference between early and late cars. On my my2005 turbo when it's asleep I turn the key to the left then press unlock on the fob and the car unlocks and the alarm doesn't go off.
On my friends 99 turning the key in the lock (either direction) then pressing the fob doesn't work, you have to open the door and turn the ignition on within 10 secs to stop the alarm going off!
