I think my experience has told me that my leather had been "repaired" previously and is too far gone for any real improvements.
Leading evidence: 'Repair " previously and is too far gone' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean carbon fiber parts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think a bunch of redyed areas now have the original damage laid bare and one area on the passenger side bolster seems to have been previously repaired with something that feels like dried superglue!

I've used "chemical guys" products in the past, but was recently turned on to leatherique.

I use Aero 303 (thanks Rennlist!) on the dash and will follow up with Griot's Garage leather care spray.

I used Armorall on everything for years, on the 996 for a year now.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys
Sitting in a nice hotel bar in Philadelphia on a layover and found another 996 guy at the bar. He asked me about leather treatments and I suggested a few of my favorites.
Leatherique
Hide Food ( Bentley )
I thought I'd ask the troops if there are any other favorites.
( If you've never tried Hide Food I strongly recommend it )
Have a good weekend guys-
I've used "chemical guys" products in the past, but was recently turned on to leatherique. Also agree that it depends on how much sun the section/area is exposed to-
I use Aero 303 (thanks Rennlist!) on the dash and will follow up with Griot's Garage leather care spray. Griot's interior cleaner on the seats followed up with the leather care spray. Once a year I will use the Griot's leather care "paste" on the seats for deeper conditioning. I know....I drank the Griot's cool-aid and hooked on their products......
I've seen friends use saddle leather conditioner (I think that's what it's called) Seemed to work really well. At least on newer cars. A little off topic, but what is good for polishing and cleaning carbon fiber parts?
Leatherique. No question.
My former '87 911 had Leatherique used for 16 years; as a daily driver it was frequently parked in the sun all day:

Aside from physical wear on the driver's side bolsters (repaired in these photos) every piece of leather is factory original.
Do it at least 2x/year and use A LOT I mean A LOT and let it soak in for 24 hours if you can. It doesn't look at its peak until a week or two later, but it will.
I used Armorall on everything for years, on the 996 for a year now. I like the original protector* for interior trim, it kept Acura's trim in great shape for many years under the AZ sun. Seats are the same way, no cracks and limited wear.
Most interior carbon fiber parts are clear coated, just like your paint. Same goes for most wood veneers. I've had good luck using an auto polish to bring back the shine and remove small scratches, then protecting it with an auto wax.
Then you will be blown away if you actually use a quality product. Most of the really good auto detailing products are not available at Walmart.
I tried Leatherique yesterday. I think my experience has told me that my leather had been "repaired" previously and is too far gone for any real improvements. I think a bunch of redyed areas now have the original damage laid bare and one area on the passenger side bolster seems to have been previously repaired with something that feels like dried superglue! I may try to redye certain area and get some of the filler and try again. One area that did improve is the shifter boot that was like cardboard. This leather seems less "finished" and more cracked than the rest so perhaps the Leatherique penetrated properly. With the finished/sealed surfaces I'm not sure how much penetration can really occur?
For the past 10 years of so, I've used Leatherique and Color Plus products for Softening/preserving leather and been pleased with them (especially Color Plus 'dyes'). Previously I'd used Connolly's Hide Food and Lexol.
In the past few months, I've started using products from Leather Therapy (I'm restoring the interior of the BMW 3.0 CS I bought last spring). They were recommended by a friend who restores older P-car (primarily) interiors with new leather. I like both their 'wash' (cleaner) and their softener/preservative products. They are widely used in the equestrian community for saddles etc.
Recently, on another Rennlist Porsche Forum, a member posted a link to a MB Forum, where a member had used Nivea Skin Cream (the variety produced in Germany). Some members on that forum have started to use it and seem to like it. Link to the MB page:

I also started using Leather Magic dyes on my BMW 3.0 CS that I'm bringing back to OE appearance. Another P car owner had excellent experience with their dye on the outer driver bolster wear area - both in match and in durability. Leather Magic has a LOT of automotive leather dye colors as 'stock', so you don't have to pay for custom dye to match your OE new color. So far, the dye seems equivalent to Color Plus, and buying 'stock' versus custom color saves about 50% in cost per quart of dye.
I've been using diluted power clean to clean the leather (and anything else for that matter);

then following up with collinite:

I redyed my seats about a year ago, and they came out great. I've been hesitant to treat them since, but I know I should. I've always used Lexol products, but may try some others suggested here. Will the leather treatments cause any issues with the new dye?
