I tried all of the things to re-sync recommended by JMG but still the remotes didn't work.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of my remote keys has never worked and the other remote recently stopped working. I tried all of the things to re-sync recommended by JMG but still the remotes didn't work. I've just used FobFix to re-sync my 2 remote keys to the M534 unit. I removed the M543 unit, posted it to to them with the keys, they re-coded and turning it round the same day and I received back the following day, re-installed and both keys working perfectly. They have a helpful video on YouTube. They seem to be able to fix all of the difficult issues with 996/986 keys / alarm units. Very good value transparent pricing too. Highly recommended! https://shop.fobfix.com/collections/porsche

POST 2Original post

Looks to be replacement key head electronics and pairing from the service description on their website, so 40% the price of new from Porsche or most independents plus postage. That's assuming it cost you £150 +postage. Good to know, thanks for the tip.

Yep £150 + postage to sort both keys out

£150 per key or for both? - they quoted me £150 each a while back

POST 5Original post

Are they re-syncing your original keys, or are they replacing them with new key fobs/remotes and transponders?

Re-syncing original keys

POST 7Original post

Had a chat with someone and was told that there was no way to resync the keys if they are too far out of sync - same seems to be on the JMG website

Whilst true that Porsche never built in a robust way of correctly resyncing these older fobs, they can be reused with the correct tools and skills. We can take existing used 986/911 fobs and reset them to either new random barcodes or match them to your existing old remote IDs, given access to your PAS/M53x unit.
