As mentioned above, I'd start with the battery first, as this needs to be replaced anyway.
Leading evidence: 'Replace anyway' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). After the shop fixed my car, I ran into the same key issue.

Just to close the loop (sort of...) Got it back from the shop last week: two new door actuators, new battery, primarily, change from 2 grand.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Some time ago, I had a problem with the door not opening. The remote worked, but when pulling in the handle, the door would not open, either side. I left it for a while and now nothing, won't unlock, no sound, the window didn't even roll back up. I have to use duck tape to make sure no rainwater gets in. How can i even get the car towed if they can't get inside the car!? HELP!!!
Sounds like you've got multiple problems.
First, it sounds like your battery is now dead. So you've got to get into the frunk to deal with that. There's a cable buried in the driver's wheel well that should unlatch the hood allowing you to get to the battery. Alternatively, a good locksmith has been known to be able to use locksmith magic to open the frunk by prying a gap and using tools to unlatch the mechanism. I don't remember the exact process.
The door locking/unlocking problem .... sounds like you've neglected to address this problem when it 1st appeared. I've never worked on the physical key lock on the driver's door, but I thought it was strictly mechanical - that is that it doesn't require electrical power to unlatch. However the passenger side needs battery to unlock since there is not a key lock. I suspect you could possibly open this passenger door once you got the battery problem addressed.
I see in one of your earlier posts you had a water drain blockage causing flooding inside. I wonder if either it has re-occurred or it was never adequately addressed and still glitches occasionally?
I'm sure soon better experts in these issues will chip-in with help, or at least better explain your options.
Previously, have you had any problem opening either door from the inside using the door card handle? If not, it might be possible for a locksmith or other skilled person to use a shim/fish to slip down through the window seal and lift the inside door handle.
As mentioned above, I'd start with the battery first, as this needs to be replaced anyway. Once you have a good, full-charge battery in, then you can try unlocking again - it's possible that the previous attempts to unlock were not strong enough to actually unlock the door... so you'd hear a noise, but it wouldn't actually move far enough to unlock.
After that, I'd try the mechanical key again. Also note, it may be that the door is sagging... I recall such problems on older cars, so you had to lift the handle and the door to some degree, to get it to open. You may even try unlocking while lifting the door a bit, to see if that allows the lock mechanism to move.
Basically, you're going to have to try various things to get it open...
As for towing, the car can still be pulled onto a flatbed or even lifted from the rear wheels to tow it away. So, you can certainly get it to a shop that way without much issue... and leave it to a mechanic to figure it out.
Thanks again, guys, for jumping in - I really appreciate the pitch-in - what crowd sourcing is all about, right?
First things first - if anyone else encounters a similar problem, the hack is to lift the latch and then push it in. When I contacted Drivers' Choice in Longwood, FL, my trusted go-to, that's what they suggested. Sure enough, it worked. Second, if the battery is dead, a 'boost' in the fuse panel will be enough to open the frunk (most of you might know this already). Once we're in, the towing guy was able to connect to the battery, and boom! It started!!! I was so relieved! No huge issue, and most importantly, no major electrical problems. I'm at a point, though, as little as I drive it, that I'm willing to let it go after less than 45K miles. It's been a good ride, with some angst along the way 🤪
Just to close the loop (sort of...) Got it back from the shop last week: two new door actuators, new battery, primarily, change from 2 grand. I'm just relieved it's not even worse. B-U-T!!! I then found out this week that the key cannot open the driver's door mechanically now! What a laugh! Will have to schedule to bring it in again. German engineering (and financing)!
I have not used the mechanical key?
Is there a "trick" as I know on some MBs you have to turn and hold the key as you use the handle.
Not just turn to unlock as an old mechanical system.
After the shop fixed my car, I ran into the same key issue. A local locksmith helped me get the mechanical lock working again without breaking anything. For future lock problems, I used

and they showed up fast with clear pricing. Their technician rekeyed the driver’s door cylinder on the spot, which saved me another trip to the shop.
