Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had my rms done a couple of years ago - used that leak as excuse to do ims, aos , oil cooler o-ring (where there was small water leak) and check clutch.
Leading evidence: 'Check clutch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check clutch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Looking at this the other way around - if you decide to get it replaced anyway, there's still a chance you'll wind up with a leaky RMS.

Next oil change I think I'm going to switch from mobil 1 to one of the European 5w40 oils - see if that makes any difference ...

Of course I am glad not to do it as I had the money set aside and I can use it on something else
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Last spring I had the AOS done. The following week there was an oil leak. I brought it to my indie guy and confirmed an RMS leak. Since I was storing the car for 6 months I decided to wait till I got it back on the road. After the 6 months there are no more oil leaks. I leave a carton under the car and not a drop. Can the RMS clog itself. The same thing happened when I had the Boxster. I stored it and the leak never came back even after 5 years.???
P-car owners who grew up on air cooled 911s (or British sports cars!) learned to tolerate some oil leaks. Most are harmless and expensive to fix.
In the current water cooled era, owner expectations are quite different about such things. I attribute the higher expectations and lower tolerance levels to our experiences with the top Japanese auto manufacturers who build economy cars that simply DO NOT leak!

Unlikely the RMS got clogged up. What would it get clogged up with? I would attribute the leak going away as a fluke.
If the leak stays away enjoy your exceptional luck.
Or maybe your RMS leak was misdiagnosed and it was just some residual oil left from the AOS?
I wouldn't mess with it personally. Not in a million years.
Thanks for the response. Of course I will not do a RMS if it is not leaking. I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced the same outcome. Of course I am glad not to do it as I had the money set aside and I can use it on something else
Not with POA oil. Seals tend to shrink with this oil if the engine not used regularly/frequently.
The opinion the leak was residual from the AOS is the best explanation.
Looking at this the other way around - if you decide to get it replaced anyway, there's still a chance you'll wind up with a leaky RMS. There are more than a couple of posts here and elsewhere by people who had the RMS done while their mechanic was "already in there" and wound up with a leak where there wasn't one before.
I definitely agree with all of the "if it ain't broke..." posts.
Had my RMS done when I got a new clutch and LN Pro IMSB and my car came back with a leaking RMS... Straight back to the indy that did it, turns out the RMS was defective, put in a new one now no leaks but +996 if its not leaking, happy days
Yes, I was making the assumption the OP was using an approved oil, and mostly like one of the Mobil oils, 0W-40 or 5w-40, and AFAIK these are POA oils.
I had my rms done a couple of years ago - used that leak as excuse to do ims, aos , oil cooler o-ring (where there was small water leak) and check clutch. Now 2 years later I sull have occasional drip from rms - but as others said - not loosing sleep over that now I have new ims in there ! Next oil change I think I'm going to switch from mobil 1 to one of the European 5w40 oils - see if that makes any difference ... My rover leaks more and my prius never lost a drop in 110k miles
Technically, those are still group III base with added PAO components blended in so not 100% POA. I don't wanna get into any debates here but the M1 0w-40 will not act like the group IV based POA's and shrink your seals as you stated with infrequent use.
Well I guess I spoke to soon. Noticed a leak yesterday. I am not worried but I will eventually get the RMS done because I just hate oil leaks and putting a carton under the car to absorb any oil. Car has Mobil 0w-40 and I just changed it 100 miles ago.
Before anyone undertakes an RMS replacement, they should take a look at the links below, or something with the same pertinent content.

I would also make sure the mechanic has the proper installation tool.
