Take care, C4 torque is lower than C2, so double check before torquing the nut.

Whilst replacing the ARB drop links on my C4 I have managed to damage the mounting point on the LHS spring perch where the top end of the drop link attaches to the OEM shock.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Whilst replacing the ARB drop links on my C4 I have managed to damage the mounting point on the LHS spring perch where the top end of the drop link attaches to the OEM shock. Does anyone know if this is replaceable and if so where one might be sourced from (Google is not giving me any clues)? Even better has anyone removed a failed front shock (has to be C4 as mounting points are different) who would like to sell the perch?

I broke mine by applying the wrong torque.

Mine was welded recently, after inspecting it I have no doubts it will hold. If you new buy shocks they don't come with the spring perch, at least Koni SAs don't. For me since the car was at the garage welding was the only solution, if you can bide your time you can contact breakers (but it will be more expensive than welding, and it might be cracked anyways).

That’s exactly the mistake I made.

That’s disappointing, I thought my other option was to put new shocks on and liked the looks of the Koni’s.
