Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

You might also notice rough idle, throttle weirdness at low RPM, and more heat because the car isn’t optimized for the airflow changes yet.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

so on a 2006 Porsche Cayman S I’m about to install the IPD competition intake, the Fab speed long tube race headers and the super cup exhaust. Other than the obvious issues, such as check engine light, And not Obtaining the max horsepower possible are there any other issues I need to be aware of with doing these upgrades and not immediately doing the ECU tune?

POST 2Original post

I assume the tune is on the short list. We do a lot of tuning on our dyno here and get calls all the time about this. "Can I install my headers and drive 5 miles to your shop?" The answer is yes. I just tell everyone to keep the car at low loads so you don't risk engine damage. HTH

POST 3Original post

yes the tune is definitely next but we would need to drive the car for 2 1/2 hours to get to the nearest tuner that goes back that far any tuning shop near me only goes back to 2013

POST 4Original post

You’ll definitely get it running, but without a tune the main thing to be aware of is fueling and drivability being a bit off, not just the CELs. With long tubes + intake changes, you can end up running leaner in certain load ranges and the DME will try to correct but only within its limits. You might also notice rough idle, throttle weirdness at low RPM, and more heat because the car isn’t optimized for the airflow changes yet. I’d avoid hard driving or extended high RPM pulls until you get it tuned, just to be safe. If you’ve got to drive 2.5 hours to a tuner, I’d honestly keep it light, vary RPM, and avoid staying in boost/load for long periods. Mechanically it’ll survive the drive, just don’t treat it like it’s already tuned

POST 5Original post

thanks i think i’m going to skip the long drive and get it towed there just to be safe i don’t want the ecu doing an auto learn for the new throttle body while it has check engine light

POST 6Original post

Hi, I have the same plans for my 2006 Cayman S . What is your plan for the headers O2 sensors? Please update your progress and any unusual problems. Good luck!
