So I've seen a few videos on Youtube of people cutting open the stock muffler and changing the inner tube routings or adding perforated piping to enhance the sound but has anyone seen a write up or video on removing the secondary cats?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So I've seen a few videos on Youtube of people cutting open the stock muffler and changing the inner tube routings or adding perforated piping to enhance the sound but has anyone seen a write up or video on removing the secondary cats? Aftermarket exhausts don't have these cats in place and it seems they would be biggest choking point in the stock muffler. I know the Carnewal systems change the inner piping but do they also gut the secondary cats? I'm thinking of looking for a cheap used system on Ebay and giving it a try. I'd think just gutting the cats alone would give more of a sound enhancement than the piping changes in the muffler section. And then you could always adjust the muffler piping to get a little more out of it. Let me know if you've seen any write ups or videos on this. Thanks.

POST 3Original post

Ya I read through that one almost entirely and watched the videos. His exhaust doesn't have the secondary cats where the .1 cars do so I was looking for something a little more specific to that area.

POST 4Original post

Carnewal would gut the secondary on a .1 car as part of their modification IIRC No cats in the .2 muffler.
