Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Been thinking about it - not sure how it would look on a car with white faced gauges and brown leather interior.... Does anyone have pictures of how it turned out on their own cars?

POST 3Original post

Here it is in my car... Boxter Red Leather tho'

POST 4Original post

Plain old Black here.... But I like the look of the rings.

POST 5Original post

It's not functional and adds weight? I say "no"...

POST 6Original post

Ahh! I've been thinking about it for my black interior with the aluminum accents but wasn't sure how that would look. Looking at Marc's car, I think I may have to get them. Marc - where did you get the bezel rings?

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 7297848

I think suncoast if I remember correctly... Notice in your sig you have a B5 S4 ,I used to have one as well, it was a great car! (Blk/Blk 6speed, Stage 2+)

POST 8Original post

Put them in my full leather black interior. A big improvement! Also liking Marc's aluminum-look 'flouret.' I had thought about body color, but that looks good!

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 7297886

Yeah, mine was a Stage 2+ too! I think it was the perfect all-rounder; sports sedan, family car and decent (but heavy) track performer! Finally had to let it go late last year. The maintenance costs were getting high, so I had to find a car that was cheap to maintain!

POST 10Original post

Got mine at suncoast and used silicone as adhesive ..

POST 11Original post

Here is mine. The quality of the pics is not great...sorry. -Manil

POST 12Original post

Weight? A bottle of beer weighs 10 times what these aluminum rings weigh...

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 7298227

And I don't keep one of those in the car, either. Sorry, there's just no aspect of this bling that I like, especially the thought of gluing crap to the dash of my Porsche. Dare I say it reminds me of what a teenage Honda Civic driver might do to his car?

POST 15Original post

I like them, but I wont be buying them....its not the weight, but the gluing thing.... now if they came with big ole screws

POST 16Original post

IIRC, these were standard on the 40th anniversary model. Sorry but I don't get that this is Honda racer boy mod. Now if these rings had LEDs in them and illuminated, then I would get it as a racer boy mod. Just sayin' And there is NO gluing of these. You use a bead of silicone. Completely reversible if wanted.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7298800

This is my exact color combo...Ok here's the question - I see some have the 'chrome look' - others the matt aluminum look - which do you guys prefer

POST 20Original post

PM me if interested. I have a new unopened set of the matt aluminum ones that I recently took in exchange for a credit I had with a Porsche parts vendor. My car has grey leather surrounding the gauges with silver faces and black rings which looks good so I won't be using these.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 7300105

No glue. double stick tape world fine.

They go nice with my giant ricer wing Now where is that catalog of LED license plate frames and giant exhaust tips?

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 7300109

where? where? I need one!.... it will so match with my under carriage neons.

POST 24Original post

Every pic I see of Ferd's car is like "DAAAYYYAAAMMM!! That's a nice car!!"

POST 25Original post

You could buy a harley and have plenty of stuff to put chrome on

POST 27Original post

Do the aluminum rings but they need to be accompanied by aluminum pedals for the full visual effect.

POST 28Original post

They make a huge difference in my black interior, original black gauges. I got mine (matte) on eBay. Ed, you can just use silicone which you can also peel off later if needed....

POST 29Original post

Quotes source post: 7300029

Hey, hold on there! First, I am not a teenager and second, I drive an Accord, not a Civic!

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 7300105

Use silicone to attach them. If you mess up, you can peel the stuff off and try again. No damage to the gauges or the rings. Plus, they are shiny looking! No real Porsche owner drives a 996 without them!

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 7300109

Hey now, stop talking about me in front of my face!

POST 32Original post

Can anyone post a shot if possible with these on from about doors length on a black interior?

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 7300250

+1. I acutally used double sided sticky pads (sticky squares). The tape didn't contact enough to hold them properly and they rattled some. Plus, you can take them off if you don't like them. -td

POST 34Original post

Isn't it aluminum colored plastic? I prefer black plastic with a black leather interior myself.

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 7303651

The ones I have are a light gauge formed aluminum with a rich looking sparkle matt finish.

POST 37Original post

Likr nick49, mine are are light gauge aluminum with a rich looking sparkle with a matt finish. An eye pleaseing subtle boquet of brightness counteracted by the boldness of a flat texture. Everytime my eyes rest up these "rings of life", I like to muse, I am taken to the dicotomy of life. How we are encircled by......wait, I got 'em, I like 'em. Go Fast, Make Noise.

POST 39Original post

I've been absent from the list (too much work!!...a good thing, though), but thought I'd post these, to help out. Easy install...I used silicone. 100_0210.jpg 100_0218.jpg

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I bought the rings from NRAUTO. They were indeed aluminum that were painted. But painted quite poorly. The quality up close leaves much to be desired But from the drivers seat it looks fine.

POST 43 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok 3rd day with the mod - I LOVE IT!

POST 44Original post

Hey do they sell black rings you can apply with silicon on top of the silver ones?

POST 46Original post

Hey guys I'd like get your opinion on this. after seeing the pics on this thread I've decided to get some rings too but I'm not sure should I get them in aluminum or red? What do ya think? Cheers, Sid.

POST 48Original post

Quotes source post: 7375907

I second that opinion.

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 7375907

What...tooooooooooooo much? I know, I know... but it just makes me feel like a young bull at the rodeo when I get in that car. I'll probably end up changing it at some point but for now it is what it is and it does really make you feel like you're in a race car. That said, this is part of customizing, sometimes "it seemed a good idea at the time" you just don't know till you try. OK so I guess the answer would aluminum then? Thanks for being gentle guys. Sid.

POST 51Original post

He guys Check this out!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Porsche-911-1...item4a9f2c284d HOLY CRAP... that makes little Psycho look sane!! hahahahaha This dude really lost his marbles!!!!!!

POST 52Original post

Now THAT is too red I'd love to see those rings in red though................

POST 53Original post

Hell, go the red, we know that's what you really want! right?

POST 54Original post

Quotes source post: 7376770

Damn that's gonna give us Aussies a real bad name Wonder how many crocs it took?

POST 56Original post

It's been a while but I finally got around to putting those gauze rings... Almost went with red, but since I added even more red elements to the interior I thought I'd go silver. I wouldn't have put these on if it wasn't for this thread, thanks! Cheers, Sid.
