Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
There is no problem with your k2 line, the problem is with durametric.
Leading evidence: 'durametric' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'durametric' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check continuity or voltage' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The problem is their product doesn't work with early 99's.

Checked voltage on pin 3 and it was 10.9V, voltage on pin 1 was 11.9v.

The alarm did have water damage but I just replaced with a unit from SOS diagnostics.

Could I check continuity or voltage on that circuit?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've disconnected that switch and it made no difference.
Have a '99 cab tip that I'm trying to get the top calibrated with a Durametric cable(version 6). Durametric can see Engine, transmission and alarm modules. Cannot read top, ABS, Roll over and a few others. Durametric tells me these are on the K2 bus. The alarm did have water damage but I just replaced with a unit from SOS diagnostics. Alarm and remotes all functioning. Wiring for everything looks solid, no damage (so far).
Anyone have suggestions on how to troubleshoot the K2 bus or suggestions on how to get the durametric to read these modules?
Thanks,
Chris
Checked voltage on pin 3 and it was 10.9V, voltage on pin 1 was 11.9v. The only other electrical gremlin is the rear deck lid light comes on when the car is started and goes out after the car is driven a few feet. Will not go out if the car is idling and not moved. I've disconnected that switch and it made no difference.
There is no problem with your k2 line, the problem is with durametric. Durametric attempted to say the same bullsh!t for my 99 cab. I purchased the "pro" cable to reset an airbag light, but like you it wouldn't connect to any systems on the k2. Apparently their engineers are not as smart as they think they are, because they cannot get their product to work with early 99's. I took my car to the dealer, who noted zero problems with the k2 line, or any other line for that matter, reset my light and sent me on my way.
Are you saying the "rear deck lid light" = spoiler? It is normal for it to stay on when you start the car and only goes out after you move forward at >5 mph. Totally normal function.
Great info guys! Really disappointed with Durametric. Wasted $300 bucks. I guess I'll have to go to the local indie shop and pay their outrageous rates for a calibration with the PIWIS. I'll follow-up if that is successful. Thanks, Chris
AFAIK the engine controller and transmission and alarm modules are on the K2 bus.
If the other controllers the Durametric can't talk to are also on the K2 bus this then suggests the problem in your case does in fact lie with a Durametric communication problem and not a problem with the connector, bus lines, or controllers on the buses.
Upon a correct "wakeup" on the K2 (Keyword 2000) bus and a query for "PID's" supported anywhere from 1 to a number of controllers can respond.
However, I've never seen if more than 1 controller responds more than 3 controllers responding. This suggests an extra step (or two) is required to wake up and initialize and communicate with those other K2 resident controllers.
This then supports what m3driver says. The fact the factory diagnostics computer was able to communicate with these other devices of course eliminates any controller/bus hardware problem as a reason the communication failed.
m3 and dcm, have you tried to work with Durametric for a refund? If the product does not work as advertised, I see it very unfair to you to eat the price. If you can provide the dealer invoice for the work dated after your Durametric purchase, that sound like sufficient proof?
Worst comes to worst, you can sell your cable with 2 VIN slots left at a reduced price to recover some cost.
I did try to work with them for a refund, but I bought two cables so I could get a discount, and sold the first cable to another member on rennlist. Because durametric won't discount single cable purchases they would only refund part of the price to take away the discount from the first cable, or return both cables. That wasn't an option so I sold the other cable to another member on rennlist. The problem is their product doesn't work with early 99's. They like to blame the k2 line, however the dealer proved them wrong. 5mins and $75 later my light was off and the dealer stated every system was communicating as it should.
